Amazon has it's own cargo plane. Not a drone.

Amazon is currently testing its Prime Air drones in the UK to avoid FAA regulations, but while the UAV program may not arrive on US shores for some time, the online retail giant will soon be launching its first branded cargo airplane: Amazon One.

The company is showcasing the Boeing 767-300 this weekend at Seattle’s SeaFair Air Show. It will be flown and operated by Atlas Air Worldwide, which provides Amazon’s air cargo services.

The cargo plane, which displays the Prime Air and Amazon smile logos, is one of 40 Boeing 767s that the company is leasing from Atlas and its other cargo partner, Air Transport Services Group. There are currently 11 dedicated planes flying for the company, with the remainder rolling out over the coming years.

Won't be long before Amazon starts delivering goods to you before you even know you want or need them.

I know Amazon has world class logistics and is even pioneering self updating algorithms, but what is the risk envolved with having a fleet of planes? Planes are crazy expensive, have red tape out the mother fricking arse for maintenance, and require special mechanics with constant trainings and education. This is a different business that Amazon is in and could bite them in the arse with losses. There's a reason people lease planes and let management teams handle the details.

I ordered something from Amazon last week. I declined the option for two day delivery in favor of standard delivery. They held my order for four days and then sent it via two day shipping. Diabolical MFers.

The painting of the aircraft threw me. My wife is in airplane maintenance. You can't paint it if you don't own it.
