Alone Time is Impossible to Find These Days

A few things have happened in my life recently that have put me in a bit of a funk. I'm not much of a talker or sharer IRL. I just think it's a waste of time. When I'm in one of my "moods" (and they happen four or five times a year), I just want to be left the frick alone.
I'll work it out. I'll get through it. Just leave me alone.
Going to work and being around people is exhausting enough. The last thing I want to do when I get home is answer well meaning texts and phone calls from people.
Unfortunately, people don't understand that anymore. They don't understand that some people just want silence and solitude. We're a society of oversharers and god forbid that someone bucks the trend and just wants to suffer in silence. People take OFFENSE at the fact that I don't want to "talk it out."
How do you guys politely, yet firmly, tell people to back off and leave you be?
Because apparently I suck at it.

Turn your phone off.

Given my business, I can't really do that. I wish I could throw the damn thing in the river most days.
Hell, I loved when I lived outside the country and didn't have one for months at a time. It was bliss.

In that case, try just not responding to people you don't want to talk to? Eventually they'll get it/stop caring

People suck dude. There's no way around it. Just keep on keeping on.

"I'm good. Thanks."
Then
"Great. I'll call if that changes. Well I gotta take care of a few things. Catch ya later. Buh-bye."
Boom. Done.

I know the feeling. I get calls and messages constantly for work. I relish the times when I can turn off and tune out.

I love my alone time. I never had any while I was married. Been divorced 6 years now and my gf works opposite schedule of me and during the school year my son is at school. It is me time and I love it. I play video games, go to the beach, yank one out, whatever. It's me time.
I get what you are saying though.

I can't tell them politely, thus I don't have many close friends. I always tell people, if you don't wanna hear the answer, don't ask the question. My loving wife says all the time how brash I am, but, I prefer honesty to getting lied to ... fwiw brother. Sorry, I know this didn't help .....

I am a lot like you OP. Although I have never had an issue getting my solo time in. I just turn the phone off and go somewhere

There is an ignore button on phone and you don't need to answer text messages it doesn't make you a shitty person. There is not a need to be connected at all times. I don't know what you do but your work shouldn't really have access to you when you're off and at home unless you are on call, so turning phone off really shouldn't be a problem either. Either way it sounds like it's your own fault if you can't get away from a phone.

Are you a chick? If not go fishing and the alone time issue is covered.
