at 2:29 he yells at someone to drop it or something similar. Was that an injured victim coming towards him and had their own weapon? The person is blurred out and couldn't tell what happened there.

Going back, I think the shooter is possibly injured. I read too much into him slowing down and breathing heavily. He just ran a good bit with his equipment on.

Holy shite that was crazy.

Weren’t there “only” 5 people killed by the shooter? It sounded like it could have been 20+ the way he was shooting and the amount of people in a mall.

Was it ever determined how a Hispanic guy was a white supremacist?

Just give him police officer of the year now and call it a day. That’s the ideal picture perfect model for a police officer. One second he’s talking to a mother and her children about safety and seat belts, forming a bond with the community, also gaining trust of the young ones. Then he quickly and without hesitation, responds to the gunshots, radios in, and grabs his AR to head towards the gunshots and eliminates the threat, singlehanded. What an absolute stud!

It definitely did. Columbine was 24 years ago. There have been many such incidents in the decades since.

Edit: not old enough for you? What about the San Ysidro McDonald's massacre in 1984? Want older? What about the Texas University Tower shooting in 1966? Does it hurt your dishonest point that this isn't just a part of American culture that you have grown up in and helped perpetuate?

I was in the area when all this happened and it was abnormally hot. The dude ran clear across that huge arse parking lot with all that gear.

Because they glorified those two as being victims of bullying

I'm always surprised how quick that job can move. Talking to kiddos and a mom in a parking lot one second and having to make a decision to drop someone the next.

Great actions by the officer. Time to take some paid time off.

Talking to kids about being good, remembering to use seat belts, and kind of laughing with them when kids did seat belt motion to around 20 seconds later running with his rifle into the sounds of gunshots.

Incredible job by the cop.

Man, people don't understand how hard that is to do. To run in the summer heat of Texas, full of red lined adrenaline across a whole parking lot and still remain calm and winded enough to make a good shot. Definitely not an easy thing to do.

Exactly. Many people practice target shooting... but making a shot under all those conditions is impressive.

Wonder if the officer has military experience? I haven't read much about him to this point.

I just wanted to bump this one time from page 2 because cops like this guy along with the ones who went into the Nashville school deserve the positive attention and praise for running into danger and taking the shooter out.

Media focuses on the bad cops, but there are plenty of good ones.

Nope. As usual they just put it out there in the media with no evidence, the lapdogs printed it without a second thought, and everybody moved on. The narrative has already been set so why frick with it? It’s pathetic.

First three google results on the shooter are CNN, NPR, and AP, all identifying the "neo-nazi" (their words, not mine) as Mauricio Garcia.
