huh?

You really think a single computer glitch can take down a worldwide N-redundant system? If true, that's scarier.

You'd better fricking educate us on what an N-redundant system is.

Well I have not educated myself.

I just know that all Delta flights are currently grounded. It could be long lasting. Sucks for anyone flying Delta today.

The problem wasn't with the system itself, it was a widespread power outage that brought down their datacenters and the diesel and electric backup generators took some time to start up and caused a massive reboot of all systems. When this occurs, they have to run many diagnostics to ensure nothing was lost and things don't domino downwards.

Did you even READ my post???? Here I am trying to keep the peace in this POS thread and YOU aren't bothering to push away from the biscuits and gravy long enough to appreciate my efforts.

FOX Business Network reported the Delta said it is all cool.(MY words, not theirs.)

N/M, I RA'd.

this happened to one airline because a shitty developer wrote a SQL query with "select *".. what a dip shite

this probably isn't too far off from that

N-redundant = redundant several times over.

Computers would not just "go down" if the power went out. They would have to be taken down. My guess is Delta purposely took their own systems down for a safety reason.

That sounds like a problem with the planning of the system. I mean, if power in Mountain View went out, would Google go down worldwide?

Did you mean burning? Computers make it turn at a pretty steady rate. O & G cause the burning.

I was caught up SWAs "glitch" a couple weeks back, 3 hour flight turned into 27 hrs of pure hell. Got a voucher out of it for my inconvenience, rep I spoke with the other day said SW gave out over 10 million in vouchers due to the shutdown.

Speaking of...I better go make my bed before my wife sees it is not done yet. Talk about trouble.

FTR, I'm not flying anywhere for at least a few days so I hope you guys get this stuff worked out.

Gotta optimize my time..
