Good destination for a quick family trip before school starts? We like outdoor adventures. Tell me more about this gem of a city and things to do while we are there. TIA!

Eating Del Taco and getting food poisoning might be the best thing that city has to offer.

They do have a dunkin donuts I guess...

Not sure if there's a restaurant called Sadie's, but my sister is obsessed with Sadie's green chili sauce from out there. Not sure why, but it was expensive as frick to ship 4 jars of it for her birthday...

Sandia Peak is really cool and the Museum of Natural History is top notch.

Albuquerque is a kickass city with lots to do. But with a population of around 750K, there are better places in NM for outdoor adventures like the OP is looking for.

This. I thought Albuquerque was a really cool city. Have not been to Sante Fe though.

It always came off as pretty ghetto to me

I had a project there for awhile and would have to do 2 week stays a couple times a year and I never really enjoyed the city itself

that was about 5 years ago though

They have excellent meth. I recommend the blue magic.

I took a wrong turn there once.

Ended up in King Arthur's Court.

Albuquerque is a pretty cool city but Santa Fe is better IMO. I stayed in nice hotel in Albuquerque for a Joe Bonamassa concert, Hotel Andaluz.

Go to The Bull Ring in Santa Fe and have a steak. Probably the best steak I've ever eaten.

I work in Albuquerque. It's a fairly cool place, but not really set-up as a vacation spot. I would check out Roswell or Carlsbad instead for a family vacation. If you're coming to Albuquerque, I would wait and come in October for the International Balloon Fiesta.

If you're set on Albuquerque then I would try the following:

The Sandia Peak Tramway

The Explora Science and Children's Museum

The National Museum of Nuclear Science and History

The Unser Racing Museum

Cliff's Amusement Park

They're both great places to visit. Santa Fe is like a clean and safe French Quarter. The open air opera in the summertime is an experience you won't forget.
