police officer in Huntsville, Alabama broke down on the witness stand on Tuesday and admitted that he had lied to cover up violent behavior by one of his superior officers.

According to WAFF, Officer Joshua Bates testified in U.S. District Court that he lied about Officer Brett Russell’s vicious beating of a handcuffed suspect. He is the second witness to admit to covering up Russell’s actions during the Dec. 23, 2011 arrest of Gary Wayne Hopkins, who was taken into custody following a domestic disturbance.

Spoke with one of my study buds that works for the media there and he said everyone has been busted lying in this case. It is a shite show. FWIW I also know the federal prosecutor in this case.

Regardless of the lying, the no report on the use of force when someone was treated for three hours at the hospital will sink that officer.

For real. We the people of all races need to unite and demand change in police tactics, training and weaponry. Whatever it takes.

Cops fault. They should have done an intervention when his back window was kicked out by the suspect and talked it over.

I had a friend who was a Jefferson Parish cop that bragged to me about how they knew the spots in lockup that weren't monitored by cameras so they'd jab nightsticks into unsuspecting detainees, punch them, etc.

I really never looked at cops the same way again after that. He's the typical "I served in Operation Freedom hoo-rah" a-hole who still wears Oakleys and never gave a moment's thought to college. To his credit, I don't think he's ever sported a goattee (surprisingly).

Cops are just the worst.
