Locals apparently love it because they can get through security and to their terminal really fast, but sweet baby Jesus help you if you have a layover there.

But the winner for most meager airport (for relatively large city - so BR doesn't count) is far and away Kansas City.

It's a strange airport for sure. The terminal where I was at had the restaurant outside of the check in. I thought I was going to check in and get something to eat while waiting for the plane. Nope.

The entire airport is weird. You do get through security really fast though and they don't have TSA

Yeah that was completely stupid of you to expect to be able to get to the restaurant after checking in.

I had a layover there for 3 hours and was starving, so the only way I could eat was to leave the terminal, eat, and then go back through security to catch my flight. Dumbest airport design ever.

Chelyabinsk, Russia. Not even a toilet in the departure area.

Are you there looking for 5 star restaurants to eat at or are you there to travel somewhere?

I agree KC sucks, but jsut did a quick google and apparently JD Power and Associates Ranked them #1 for Medium Size Airports in 2010

Medium Airports
Kansas City International (MCI) ranks highest among medium airports, and performs particularly well in three of the six factors: airport accessibility, check-in/baggage check and security check. Following MCI in the segment rankings are Portland International (PDX) and Tampa International (TPA). PDX performs particularly well in the food and retail services factor while TPA performs particularly well in the terminal facilities and baggage claim factors.

Yeah this list should really only consider true layover airports.

You clearly don't have access to an expense account. Come back when you have a job that matters.
