A United attendant did think I will get comp'd more bc of a 2 day layover.

If you complain, they'll likely throw some miles or another $100-200 voucher your way. But you aren't getting $1,000.

As a former DL elite, they FUBAR'd 5 trips in a row for me (mechanical delays) and I got maybe $500 out of them.

Yeah, I did. I don't know how many people I contacted, emailed, sat on the phone with and never got anywhere with it. It was booked well in advance and they tried to say that the current coach fare the day of was actually more than what the first class fare was when I booked it or some horseshite.

Yup. And that's true. You likely got a discounted First Class ticket, which is actually a higher coach class fare ticket with auto-upgrade to coach. They will only refund you the difference between the fare and the highest fare offered in coach that day which would be more than your discounted first class ticket.

Not sure if you were aware, but was the outbound and return flights on the same pre-merger carrier? I'm not sure if United has fully integrated their systems so that may explain the return leg not existing.

It still pisses me off thinking about it. It would have been a much cheaper coach fare if I would have chosen coach when I initially bought the ticket.

I think they are usually A and P fares on DL.

You probably booked a coach fare and just didn't read the rules.

F fares are VERY expensive.

I always confuse A fares with F fares and vice versa

Booked a Z & A ticketed fare yesterday and was thinking I was getting the 200% mqm boost... guess I will settle for the %150

ETA: Just looked and they don't even sell F fares for the flights I booked

I honestly can't remember all of the details. I know it was a refundable fare because I had problems getting back home as well.

It really doesn't matter now, this thread just made me think about it all over again.
