is it jealousy or is he simply suffering from a double standard and not too happy about it?

People act like the entire Air Force is nothing but pilots and people that sit in an office. Newsflash, the Army and Marines have plenty of non combat MOS's as well.

Meh, she has a skill that for some reason the Air Force finds valuable and is being rewarded and compensated for providing her skills to the Air Force.

Now, if we want to debate why being a cute girl who can sing pop songs is a valuable skill to the United States Air Force than we can do that.

Save money on USO shows? I don't know, I got nothing.

The marines spend a lot to maintain a stellar band as well they get higher pay grades. They do formal concerts and all. The other services probably do similar. The Coast Guard even puts bands in the parades here.

The USO is privately funded through donations I believe.

I'm in the Air Force and have no issues with this. Yeah, an Air Force band is kind of a joke but the Air Force has to be able to compete with the civilian world, hints the pay grade.

Besides she doesn't do anything technical or taught in the Air Force so I would never compare her to myself.

How so? How does the Air Force band and this E-6 private enable the USAF to project air power?

My wife was in for four years, entered as an E3, and got out as an E5. She was a medic in the Army, not some singer in the Air Force. She wont want to see this.

May be the only time that I've ever laughed at one of your posts, but I did.

Its not about that. Its about as they say earning your stripes, this girl hasn't. I can assure you she will receive zero respect from her fellow Airmen.

Are you somehow trying to crack on my grammar or something? On a message board?

It's a recruiting tool. That is all the Air Force band really is. Yeah, they'll go do tours, but her main focal point is recruiting for the Air Force.

There are 13 "Marine Bands" only those selected for the Presidents Band are not required to go to boot camp.

LINK

"Do Marine Musicians have to go through boot camp?
All Marine Musicians wishing to join either the U.S. Marine Drum & Bugle Corps or one of the 12 Fleet Marine Corps Bands are required to attend Recruit Training, or Boot Camp. Recruit Training is held at one of the two Marine Corps Recruit Depots, San Diego, California or Parris Island, South Carolina. Members of the “President’s Own” U.S. Marine Band are not required to attend Recruit Training."

"What does the band do in time of war?
While at war or in the field, the band’s primary mission is to provide security for the 1st Marine Division Headquarters element."
