Airline/Travel question

I'm currently in Cali for business but live in Hawaii.
On Friday, I fly from Sacramento to LAX to HI. Connecting flight in LA is 2nd to last of the day but I want to stay in LA with friends overnight and fly to HI next morning. Can't change flight schedule with Corporate Travel who booked my trip.
If I "miss" my scheduled LAX to Honolulu flight Friday afternoon and the red-eye, what are the chances they are able to put me on standby Saturday morning? And yes, obviously if I check a bag in Sacramento it would get to Honolulu without me Friday.
TIA

Go online and pretend to make a one way reservation for the potential Saturday flight(s) you want to end up on. See how many seats are still available by accessing the seating chart for each flight.
Or, you can just call the specific airline, don't tell them that you are purposefully going to miss the Friday flight and ask about spare seats on Saturday just in case your LA "business" runs long Friday and causes you to miss the Friday flight.
You need to call to cancel Friday regardless, you risk being on a naughty list for no call/no show. The airlines and TSA probably don't care for that type of behavior.

Seat maps aren't indications of availability.

Not absolutely or exactly but generally they are an indicator of the trend.
If there are seventy of one-hundred seats available for a flight in two days, it isn't and won't be booked solid.
If there are zero seats showing as available two days before a flight, there aren't and won't be seventy available.

what airline dickhead, dont come in here with questions if you aren't going to dish out the details
you can usually change your flight 24 hrs with a flat fee or miss and get another flight the next day. Missing it is risky and I wouldn't recommend it. Plus flights from LA to Hi are cheap, so you poor or something?

Not sure that would work. Can you not call Southwest and have them change your flights rather than work? Also why would work care if it doesn't cost them anything?

American/US Airways
Obviously I'm not poor if I live in Hawaii and work for Corporate America, but why would I dish out $300-500 for a flight from LAX to HNL when I have one paid for just to chill with some lady friends for a night

Southwest doesn't fly to/from Hawaii
Work cares cause they are heartless Corporate America bastards that only care about the dollar. It would be like a $150 change fee to push my flight back

prolly will just do this and pay the $150 fee out of pocket to push my flight one day to the right
