Going to a conference at the end of September in Atlanta with 4 other people from my work. We are looking to do a AirBNB thing and snag a house in Atlanta area. Conference is downtown, where are the good areas to look and where will we get shot. Thanks.

Why can't you just rent a hotel? Serious question.

Less hassle and you will pay just as much. It may also be hard for someone to accommodate 5 people.

Stay NW. But I ditto the other poster. Traffic is terrible, and I would rather have a hotel room by the building you will be attending.

And there are some nice hotels in downtown ATL. If it's a business trip he should get his job to pay for it.

That board was such a bad idea, but I digress.

Why not expense a 5 star hotel if this is for business? Why share a house with coworkers? This sounds poor AF

Not downtown. Without question nowhere south of downtown unless you're uber hipster and think a reasonable chance of getting your door kicked in makes you a citizen of the world. Nowhere adjacent to Boulevard. Nowhere around Turner or the GA Dome.

How hipster are you? If kinda hipster, Inman Park, Old Fourth Ward, lower west midtown, poncey highlands would be ok and closer to downtown.

If you're not very hipster and prefer not to be closer to indian country, most places midtown and above would be fine. Midtown proper, collier hills, loring heights, upper west midtown, buckhead, VA highland, brookwood, etc.

For a house in Atlanta, if you want to walk to anything, VA Highland or Inman Park might be your best bet. No idea what type of offerings Airbnb might have, though.

I thought AirBNB was just for renting places to host gang bangs....I've obviously been misled.

OK, more info for the opinionated OT .

We stay in hotels all the time, wanted to try something different. We will have a car, but something off a Marta line would be great.

You might want to give where your conference is first before booking a place in ATL. all his suggestions are great, except it might take you an hour or more to get where you need to go

Our opinions are not uninformed.

Have you tried AirBnB before? I don't think it's worth it for short trips. It can truly be a hassle, especially in your situation where there are plenty of good hotels in the downtown area and where you wouldn't deal with hellish ATL traffic.

Conference is downtown and we would be there from Sunday to Friday. Company is paying for rooms, but they are pretty high price downtown. Out thought was not to save money, but stay is a nice large home. Stock the fridge full of adult beverages and steaks.

Staying in hotels does get old.

What kind of company do you work for where you can't get a hotel??? The first thing I want to do on work trips is get away from co-workers during off hours. Staying in the same house with them for a week sounds miserable.

Is this a pyramid scheme convention???

I go to Buckhead quite a bit for work. It's easily accessible via MARTA and seems like a nice area.

He said it was downtown, which I why I started there. Any of those places south of Buckhead are probably ok.

"Downtown" is a relative term for out of towners.

Where specifically? you dont have to give the center/hotel, but give a cross street or something. Unless you are actually referring to what atlanta people call downtown
