In Baton Rouge. We usually take our 3 dogs to Sherwood south but theywant $600 for the two labs and that doesn't include the husky.

Anyone have a cheaper yet a very good vet?

Always liked Sherwood South. They're a really nice facility. But damn they were expensive.

Person at work recommended Sherwood south to me. Then I called to ask for prices and was shocked at how expensive they were.

I take my dog to white oak.

We have been going their since my male lab was a pup. The female was going elsewhere then she started going to Sherwood south as well but with three dogs it's beyond expensive

I brought my three boys to get updated with their shots a few months ago. Cost me $100. Also walked out with 6 months flea and heartworm preventative for all three for about $100.

So $200 total.

I loved Highland Road Animal Hospital, but they weren't cheap.

I don't know any vets in Baton Rouge, but my Waiting Room Rule is true nearly all of the time.

1. If the waiting room looks like the lobby in a rundown motel, expect an affordable vet.

2. If the waiting room looks the lobby in a La Quinta, it'll be a little more expensive.

3. If the waiting room looks like a four-star hotel, get ready to remortgage your house.

In the places I've lived, often the best vets had the crappiest waiting rooms.

The exception is 24-hour emergency veterinary hospitals, which often have crappy lobbies and are usually very expensive.

I agree. My vet is on the cusp of NBR, but it's worth it. Vets are nice and courteous, time considerate and affordable.

Cheapest is AVS. But they're really weird about appointments. I've been told they don't take appointments many times. And if you don't get there a few minutes before they open (or right before they reopen at 2), you'll be waiting forever.

I've spent 4 hours there between waiting room, waiting once put into our own room, waiting between tests/shots, waiting to pay.
