A press release sent from the Madison Police Department said the investigation is on-going.
"Certainly our thought and prayers and condolences to the Bonner family. It's not the result we were looking for," said Chief Waldrop. "Were moving forward with the investigation."
In a post Wednesday morning, on the Facebook page Looking for Abigail, the family of the missing teen stated they were waiting on confirmation from the Madison County Coroner to see if the body found Tuesday was that of Abigail.
The message, which was posted at 8:50 a.m. on Wednesday, read "With heavy hearts, while we are still waiting on the Madison County Coroner's final report, from what we have been told we are now confident that the body found yesterday was Abigail. We are stunned, heartbroken, and grieving. Please pray for the peace of God that surpasses all understanding for Lance and Rachel and all of the children. Abigail loved Christ with all her heart, and we know that she is with Him now."
