It really is amazing that those engines with such a "heavy" valvetrain can last an entire race at those RPMs.

Granted, they were specially-built race engines, but that is a lot of mass moving very quickly.

it's amazing what magnesium and titanium valvetrain parts can withstand. And a perfectly balanced and de-stroked motor.

This was done all day every day with the DZ302 in the '67—69 Z/28.

Okay I'll add that to the exceptions with the LS7 and built race engines. Forgot about that engine with its short stroke. Maybe I should of phrased it as "try revving a stock LS3 or LT1 to 7800 rpms and see what happens".
