A question/hypothetical for you guys

Let's say you just finished a long hike and ended up atop a cliff overlooking the lower jungles and the ocean beyond. The sun is setting, the water is lit up because of it.
Another hiker comes along and stands next to you. He says "wow, this scene is absolutely beautiful"
What is the correct way to assess that hiker's statement?
A: the statement says nothing about the actual landscape, but merely about the feelings of the hiker. In other words, the hiker appears to be saying something very important about something, but actually is only saying something about his own feelings.,
B: when the hiker says that the landscape is beautiful, he is actually saying that his emotion is appropriate to the reality in front of him. In other words, the hiker says what he says about the landscape because he believes inanimate nature to be such that certain responses could be more ordinate to it than other statements

I considered both answers and concluded A to be the correct one. I never really considered that before - interesting.

If a stranger walks up to me in that situation I walk away from the cliff and say at a safe distance "So, who did you vote for in 2012?" That give me a baseline on his sanity.
