I'm not getting the feeling this company is headed anywhere fast, I know they got ton's of cash, but lets be real, the buzz is gone. The iphone is still the leader but people get tired of the same OS, the macbooks and mac air's have looked the same for years, ipods are not hot, cook keeps saying things are coming but they havn't. This whole Beats aquistion has everyone puzzled. IDK i'm not feeling it.

Also all this real estate they are getting into is crazy. they are going into the most expensive there is... reminds me of that electric gadget store that didn't make it.

1. do they make it 10 years before they b/c blackberry.
2. they release a flurry of products that blows everyones mind and changes the game again.

pick one

Neither. They aren't going anywhere, but their reign as the supreme king of ring is over.

3. They fall back into mediocrity once everyone realizes what they're actually paying for.

They literally have enough cash to completely shut their doors today, recall all of their products, keep current expenses, not sell a single product for 10 years and still have a few billion left over.

Not going to happen on the iPhone scale for a long time, if ever.

They still look 100x better than any other notebook IMO. Hell, even the air's look 100x better than the non retina macbook pros from just a couple years ago.

A better title for this thread would be "Do You Like Apple?"

1. Yes
2. No

Cause that's really all we'll find out in this thread.

I love Apple, but I think my answer was pretty pragmatic.

That's already happening. I don't think the Beats buyout will help them either. They have pretty much lost too much market share of two things they once dominated. Music and smart phones.

They've got enough of a headstart and spare cash on hand to stumble a bit and make it through some duds.

but the profit share of all phones sold in the world is still like 76% in apple's favor. That's what matters, right?

I want a new laptop and love my current MacBook, but I'm not willing to drop $1200+ on another.

3. Growth tumbles, "innovation" stalls, company proven mortal and just exists in its groove

I'd agree with you completely here. I'm an iPhone/iPad user, happy with my device, but nothing I've seen about a "bigger" iPhone has me really excited for this fall.

No way. Apple would have to sit on everything and do nothing, I mean nothing, for the next 5 years. Blackberry had an excellent product and foolishly thought brand loyalty was enough. I just don't see Apple letting that happen.

Unless Cook is sitting on a hell of a trump card, like Steve Jobs wrote a 20 year business plan before he died, I don't see this as likely either.

I'll take C: They up the ante by lowering prices/offering a non contract device while maintaining a stellar customer satisfaction rating. With Google/Android continuing to offer quality phones at affordable non subsidized prices, I think the days of the two year contract are numbered. If Apple sticks to this model, I could see them being in trouble. Nothing about an iPhone is so special to me to force me to tether myself to a carrier for 2 years at a time when Nexus phones are available.
