With all the other news today I noticed this seemed to have been forgotten about. Very sad.

It's why I never do any type of plane or helicopter tours anywhere, you just don't know how safe the operators that run them are.

Same can be said for doing parasailing in the Bahamas.

Or just parasailing on the Gulf coast. Remember what happened to those two young girls a couple years ago? Their line snapped and the wind crashed them into a condo.

But I would guess many of us are guilty of doing dangerous touristy stuff(I am). You really just never know.

I was reading somewhere about the insane amount of deadly plane crashes that occur in Alaska. I think it was somewhere around one deadly plane crash every two or three weeks.

When my parents and friends did something similar they insisted on twin engine planes. Seemed like a hassle, but I guess it makes some sense.

its becuase people fly planes as much as they drive cars up there (exaggeration, but you get the point.)

I have a relative on that cruise and it took over an hour to find out they were not on that plane.

I'm glad your relative was not on that plane. They haven't released names to the public (at least that's what the article said). How scary for anyone that has a friend or family member on that cruise.

Dude, quit being so insensitive. Gay people can legally get married now! Clearly more important.

I did a similar flight on a DeHavilland Beaver with a different operator through a different cruise line last week - and it was also in Ketchikan.
