When my daughter was around that age she had some little boys who were picking on her to the point that she didn't want to go to school. So, one day I went to lunch with her (I'm 6'3"/235) and while sitting at the lunch table, I had her point out the ones who were bothering her. Once she did, I looked at them with a mad glare and shook my head. She never had another problem.

If that doesn't work, you can always pull a 'Hand That Rocks the Cradle'.....

I'll take it a step further. I try to purposely put my son in situations where he's forced to play rough. Kids are too sheltered IMO.

As stated earlier, life in unfair. It's easier to learn to face adversity young.

My cousin has 4 kids, 1 boy and 3 girls. Every time their grandpa (my uncle) is watching the kids he forces the boy to go play with the family nextdoor as they have a household of 3 boys. He absolutely hates going over there and complains about how rowdy they are.

He's getting better, though. His mom just shelters the shite out of him and always makes him play with the girls.

With all the discussion about the fighting abilities of seven years old, how many seven years olds do yall think you could reasonably handle before getting your arse kicked.

Without weapons I think it's close to infinity.

I know that sounds absurd, but my cousin is 7 and I'm not sure there's a single thing him or a hundred of him could do to hurt a grown adult. Maybe a couple lucky, strategically placed nut shots phase you and then they somehow seize momentum, but they're just awkward tiny weaklings.

As I creep closer to 50, there are some days where two of those little bastards would have me down for the count.

oh I'm sure they were shaking in their drawz that some grown arse man was going to come hunt them down. When actually they probably were laughing at you and making fun of your jorts and dad bod.

IDK man... my son is 7 and I've been "toughening him up" and teaching him how to fight since he was really little. He knows how to throw a punch, and if he hits you in the face, it hurts -- he has given me quite a few bloody noses because when we wrestle and he gets pissed, he gives it everything he's got (which is what I want him to do in a fight). I also taught him how to do a guillotine, and he knows how to wrap his arms correctly and jump up and wrap his legs. I have no doubt that he could choke some smaller adults out if he got one in a similar position.

A lot more OT'ers got bullied than I thought. I guess I never saw it as such a prevalent thing, or maybe I have a different definition of being bullied

It's either that or Tae Kwon Do around here.

of course he did. Good god how much damage do you suspect weak arse 7 year olds to be able to dish out? 50 kids could have jumped him, they still are only able to punch like a 7 year old

That makes no sense

And they are human. An infant manipulates his parents constantly. 7 year olds are capable of horrific and extraordinary things.

fights in private schools as I did in public schools. Don't think you can avoid it

While this may be true in your case, I can guarantee no 7 year old has ever been "jumped" at the private school my kids attend. Nor will there ever be in the next 12 years of their attendance.

I choose to make the necessary sacrifices to send my kids to an excellent private school. Not everyone values their children's education. Some find the type of car they drive, or owning a boat, or vacations more important. Each to their own.

how does it not make sense? He was making a deal out of the fact that his kid escaped 'undamaged'. I said of course he escaped undamaged, it was a bunch of weak arse 7 year olds punching him, they aren't capable of doing damage....???

Evidently, the OT had a good amount of 'super athletic', 3rd graders.

What defines athleticism at 7 years old? Please one of y'all answer this for me? Were you the king on the jungle gym? Did you have sick handles in basketball? What in the actual frick.

Just because you send your kids to a private school doesn't mean they are getting a better education. Also, just because someone doesn't send their kids to private school but owns a boat doesn't mean they don't value their kid's education. There's a slight chance or even a decent chance they are getting a slightly better education, but there's not as big of a gap as most think. The real reason, though no one will admit it, is status amongst peers, social circles for their kids and themselves, lack of minorities, and religion.

What?

Same at any age.

Run faster than most, stronger vs. body weight than most, execute on the playing field better than most, etc.

Kid can win a foot race, climb a rope, do a pull-up,etc.

My favorite definition of athleticism:

quote:

Athleticism is the ability to seamlessly and effortlessly combine primal movement patterns through space and time to perform known and novel tasks
