Why is okay to talk on your phone if you don't hold it?
For the exact example he and I pointed out. If the driver is distracted my merely taking part in a conversation, WTF difference does it make if the conversation takes place with a person on a phone or sitting next to them?
If you can;t hold a conversation AND drive at the same time, you ought not be driving...period.
Now...I'd like a law that states I can take a baseball bat to the next frickhead driving and looking down in their lap typing shite on their phone. But simply holding a phone against one's head and having a conversation is no more distracting than taking a sip from a drink.
shite...I was driving yesterday and some guy had a rat dag sitting in his damn lap walking all over him while he was a driving. I was talking to my wife telling her about it. Which of us do you think posed a greater threat to the drivers around us?

I'm pretty pissed about the new littering law about throwing cigarette butts out the window. Where the frick do they expect me to put them?

All I'm doing is pointing out how stupid politicians are. Or they get a lot of cash from big hands free cell phone companies.

Can I choose both?
In reality, this is just feel good legislation.
I think we can all be honest and say that being distracted by your device while driving REALLY DOES pull your eyes and concentration away from driving. Anyone that says that they can check e-mail or text while the vehicle is moving is a fricking liar...same as they would trying to read a damn book in their lap or against the wheel while driving. So, in theory, I applaud trying to do SOMETHING to curb that, because I'm far more worried about getting blown up on the road by some asshat playing around with their damn phone than I am of being in an accident I cause.
But to lump merely talking on a phone (either while holding in or hands free) into the same boat as trying to read the tiny text on your phone while it's perched in your lap or against the wheel is just idiotic.

I agree with the new law. If you are driving through a school zone, your hands should be at 10-2, looking directly ahead, NO other distractions.
I'll still be on my phone though

The OPs thread title reads like a spam advertisement.

Don't know. I'm just repeating what the inspection guy told me when I asked the same thing.

I directly copied the title of the news article. It's pretty straightforward.

Most people only drive with one hand. It isn't your hand being off the wheel that makes it dangerous. It's your mind being distracted while talking. You're just as distracted while using a hands free phone.
So no talking to passengers in the car?

3. Six Year Driver's License Renewal: The renewal period for Louisiana driver's licenses has been extended from four years to six years with a fee increase to cover the extension of the renewal period. Fee increases vary by class of license, area of residence, and age of license applicant. (This amendment does not go into effect until July 1st, 2015).
Why in the hell does waiting two additional years to renew my license cost more? I would have had to renew it in 4 years, now I wait 2 more, where does that cost more?

Great, now .gov tells me I have to sleep.
Guess I'll have to cut down on the blow and the law is already effective. frick it.
I might be movin' to Montana soon just to raise me up a crop of Dental Floss.

I never realized you were supposed to have trailers inspected.

They'd make a killing if they actually enforced this and the medians would be spotless from all the litter being picked up.
I swear this state has the highest smoking rate I've ever seen and those trashy fricks think it's acceptable to drop them out of the window like they're disgusted by them or something.
Yes, the state would make a fortune if they enforced it statewide. I live in Slidell and I smoke.
They enforce the living frick out of it here. Which is good.
I field strip my smoke out the window and put the empty butt in my ashtray.
BTW, I'm not trash.

Seriously
I've never had a policeman look for it either. Owned several from 16-20'.
