62 y/o woman Second offense DWI in St Martin Parish Likely Penalty

My 62 year old sister got second offense DWI charge in St Martin Parish. She struck a tractor trailer on the Atchafalaya bridge, no injuries, minor scuff marks on trailer. She refused the breathalyzer test and was charged with 2nd offense DWI and failure to maintain control. The first DWI three years ago was in another parish.
What can she expect from the court in St. Martin Parish?

I don't know, but this information can easily lead to people finding out her name, thus your name.

I think that she can expect to need to consult an attorney.
Also, she won't be able to drive for a long time without an ignition interlock device in her vehicle.

Not sure why that matters or how it might affect he outcome of the case.

Yeah, her information is going to be published on the police department's website with all the other arrests. Bringing more public attention to this thing is probably the opposite of what you want to do. I'd request that this thread be deleted OP.

Go ahead and get a lawyer now. She will have an interlock placed her car for up to a year. Her license will be suspended for a year, but she can get a hardship.
She will have a shite ton of community service, but can avoid that by spending a couple weeks in jail.

She is familiar with this from the last DWI four years ago. She had to use the device for two years. Didn't learn from it apparently.

She'll have to do some community service, pick up trash on the side of the road, attend AA meetings, get a breathalyzer installed in her car and pay a fine.

Why the hell do you care and why should it be deleted?
Asking for insight from anyone with knowledge of prior cases.

The penalty is pretty standard. She'll get a $1000 fine, supervised probation for a year or two, have to have the interlock while her license is suspended, 240 community service hours, attend a substance abuse evaluation, attend AA meetings while on probation and possibly attend a MADD victim impact class. Depending on her BAC, she may have to spend up to 48 hours in jail. That's about what she's looking at.
Now, if she gets another is when she hits the big leagues. 3rd is a felony and carries 1-5 years jail time. She probably wouldn't end up doing all those years, but she'd be looking at a year or so in jail.

I think she had a similar penalty for the first one. Wondering how much more severe the consequences are ona second offense?
