This is a condition in which you are born with your heart on the outside. This girl sadly has the condition.

I was talking with my wife earlier about this. She said the medical knowledge that will lead to future advancements is immeasurable. She is a doctor working with a cardiologist near the scene

I believe it was the 1980s comedy Raising Arizona where one guy was talking about trying to adopt a child and the only one "available" was a child with the heart on the outside.

That is incredible. I hope something is done to help her. I cant imagine that her prospects of living long are good with her heart poking out like that. She's just one minor accident away from damaging it.

From the article I was reading about this, not many doctors were willing to help her because of the liability. Even once they found one, they've had to wait because of her high blood pressure.
Hopefully it works out for her, brave little thing!

As someone with a congenital heart condition I hate seeing kids go through heart defects. I have had 2 open heart surgeries and I am under 30, will have to have another but hopefully not for 15 more years. As a really young child it isn't that bad but gets worse as you get older because you can't do so many normal physical things and also the emotional part of dealing with it.
