Seems like every scramble I play there is a team whose best wood is the pencil. Sad

I played in a 2-man(scramble) last weekend. Winning score was -15.

Really hard to believe that. And yes it was for charity.

Surprised they had enough time to play golf in between asking people "if they want to help them grow their business"

Multi level scoring scheme

I love playing in scrambles. I haven't done one in a long time. I never expect to win because someone always gonna throw a fishy score. But it's fun to play more team golf.

I have a couple buddies that are very average that like to do a scramble so they can hit from better places and not lose their round on 1 hole. I'm always down because normally I'm still playing my own ball

We shot 57. Had we shot 56 I'd venture to say we used 14 of everyone's shots. That was a frickin scramble

Scrambles are really easy to cheat and especially scrambles you can buy mulligans in

The best format I have actually come across is putting two teams going off the same tee at the same time, discourages cheating and actually doesn't cost much time. It also has the added advantage of networking as many of the events are out in by companies and those in that field tend to join.

That being said, I have stacked teams for scrambles before. 4 players all under 5 handicaps. You can easily run away with a scramble by more than 5 shots with a team like that especially in these less organized events, it's kind of a dick move

Some scrambles use your handicap. This leads to decent golfers turning in a 36 handicap and getting a crazy net score.

If you honestly buy mulligans , then I guess it's not cheating per the rules.

One of the loopholes that I saw , kind of neat, a guy I knew would sign up himself and his NCAA daughter golfer. She got to tee off from the lady's tees. Diver , LW on the par 5, .

I was in a scramble . We came in 2nd. I couldn't accept my trophy knowing now much the team cheated. An 8 foot put becomes a 4 foot put. A lip out is counted , "oh, that hole is not in proper shape ". An extra drive here, an extra drive there. And so forth and so on.

1a. Murders
1b. Rapists
1c. Scramble cheaters

I almost got in a fight with a guy I caught cheating on the long drive in a scramble several years ago. Saw his ball, not great and in the rough, saw him hit and then grab the stick and walk it up. I was the current long and coming back up the other way on the next hole. How this guy felt anything but shame I'll never know, but he got so pissed when I called him out. Mildly heated exchange but he put it back. Said he was gonna wear us out hitting into us but never did. I ended up winning the long drive.

I don't think there should be good prizes for first place teams in charity scrambles. It just encourages the cheating.

The good prizes should just be door prizes. That or figure out a way to verify all the scoring.

I have played in a 3 man scramble where the winning team shot -15 in a day - included two hole outs for Eagles on par 4s.

I was in the 2nd place team and watched the -15 happen...it was legit.

I hate golf cheaters - any kind...but charity golf event cheaters are the worst.
