Stories like these have become day ruiners for me. Which I realize is a selfish thing to say given the circumstances. I have a 3 year old as well.

Are you fricking kidding me? Crowd funding has donated 150k for the piece of shite parents funeral costs?

What a joke. Sorry the poor baby was born to shitty people

Edit: it says grandparents home, not sure if he was staying over or they lived there, sentiment the same though. Pieces of shite

I have a 15 month old and stairs outside his room, he is unable to get out of his crib on his own, but I am already preparing and planning as the first day he does could be the last. There is a level of responsibility that I didn't realize just doesn't suffice for.

They should be surrounding the family with preparations to hang someone; how the frick does a 3 yr old leave the house at 4 AM and NO ONE notices??

Footage shows him going outside at 4:05 am and the report says he may have been outside as long as 6 hrs! Where the hell are the parents?

Yours is a useful confession. the wound of love for a child dead never heals. so the fear of it is immense, when you read this stuff.
For example, Your kid has a drivers license. You hear about an accident near where they live. What kind of car was it? A month does not go by without such a story on the O-T.

last week two midwestern people on TD O-T posted stories in the "weird way to die" thread about two different people who slipped on ice LAST WEEK, hit their heads and died in the cold before anyone noticed they were missed. There were 20 below temps in the upper midwest last week.

I'm going to give you the benefit of the doubt and believe that you are unaware of the fact that a 3 yo is perfectly capable of unlocking and opening a front door.

I don't have any kids yet but I would think it would be hard to notice a kid climbing out his crib and going outside at 4:00 am when everyone is sleeping. I'm confused why some are furious with the parents here when there was no mention of wrongdoing in the story.

exactly

since my 2 year old just managed to open our door on his own the other day, this story scares teh shite out of me

of course we've baby proofed every door and now im considering putting a chain lock up (not to keep others out, but to keep him in

Maybe, JUST MAYBE, the funeral is about the kid and not the parents.

And maybe you should STFU.

That part is confusing. I'm assuming they didn't sleep till 10:00 am. Maybe it just took that long to find him.

Typically 3 year olds aren't in cribs. They have a bed. A 3 year old can easily get out of the house on their own if you don't have top latches on your doors.
