quote:

The men forced everyone in the restaurant to lie on the floor — pressing their guns to the heads of many of the 15 and 20 people there, counting Touzet and his employees — then took everyone’s individual purses and wallets as well as the money in the cash register.

quote:

Patrons said they were alarmed by how long it took for police to respond to their 911 calls. One man said that he finished a 20-minute phone call with his credit card company before he saw any officers.

Not sure what's alarming about that. The cops are way short handed.

quote:

At the exactly the same time, however, Second and Sixth District police officers were already involved in the investigation of a series of three carjacking incidents.

Fortunately, the cops quickly arrested two of the carjacking perps.

I wonder how long this shite is going to go on before housing prices in the city stop skyrocketing and tourists start going elsewhere.

Wow. That sounds like something that would happen in Gotham.

What an insanely idiotic crime to commit. How much money could the three gotten away with? 5K tops? If I'm going down for armed robbery, I'm certainly not risking it at popular uptown restaurant. This has to be a group of young kids

Damn, that is an escalation from the typical New Orleans crime. It's time for the citizens to step up the pressure on local government.

This week it has been all expense paid trips to Atlanta and Houston for the Mayor as part of a thank you tour post-Katrina. How many officers' salaries could these trips have paid for?

I figured he traveled there to beg those two cities not to send back any of the criminals that they inherited after the storm. It appears there are more than enough thugs for everyone to enjoy.

Nothing to see here. This is a minor issue compared to those offensive civil war monuments that need to be removed. Hell, this may not have happened if the monuments were gone.

Those expired inspection stickers aren't going to ticket themselves.

I doubt that they were that articulate.

What are the odds they spoke with an English accent, and had dinner there prior to making the robbery?

Looks like it's time for a return of a strong presence of La Cosa Nostra in NOLA. When the businesses can't get protection from the police, they will turn to somebody.

Probably won't happen now, but it's the type of scenario where it would have in the past. Just sayin

Bring a concealed weapon if ya know what I'm saying. To shoot people, in their nuts.

Probably was more like an 8 minute call. Time slows down when you feel like your life is threatened.

With concealed carry you pick your battles. Not sure this is a winning battle unless you have a clear advantage in some way to take out at least one or two very quickly.

And most concealed carry persons aren't equiped to handle multiple gunmen much less one.

I think this turned out the best way possible. No one was hurt and all they got was replaceable things.

This sucks for NOLA but just add it to the list of reasons not to visit. The leadership is more worried about ducking statues and gunmen are robbing tourists and residents.

Great leadership there.
