and it was dated by Romanian officials as being 250,000 years old.
Whenever a plane crashes, the US NTSB always says "We sure wish the Romanians were here to help us with the investigation!"

That is what it looks like and the hole in the end looks machined out. Having said that WTF kind of excavator has an aluminum tooth?
Guess I was wrong did not know you could harden aluminum to be as strong as steel.
quote:
The results of metallurgical tests made on the wedge are consistent with modern 2000 series duralumin[wp] which oxidizes fairly rapidly, accounting for the aged appearance of the wedge, and which can be hardened[wp] to a degree similar to mild steel. Aluminum will not strike sparks as steel might, which makes the alloy desirable for service in environments with combustible gases or vapors, such as the coal mines that flourished for a while in Romania.

If one exists, a 1970s Romanian one would be as good a guess as any.

Not trustworthy. They can't make cheese without holes.

They remove a very small piece w a laser and then test the purity. Then the purity will round about tell them the age. (Basically)

Did they use Carbon dating? Cause there's the problem. Carbon dating is only accurate out to ~50k years.

Makes sense. Let's vote Hillary for president.

That's a long arse time for a group of people to pack a chuck of metal around. Could you imagine the stories told around the campfires at night as the story got passed down from generation to generation. That would be some "Good Medicine" too. No telling how many people died defending it either.

That's part of an excavator. It was buried probably when placing underground utilities decades ago. The earth around it would be old, but the metal is modern.

The margin of error for carbon dating aluminum is 250,000 years.
Posted on 10/20/16 at 11:33 pm to HailHailtoMichigan!
It was built with Chinese aluminum...

That aluminum object looks mighty familiar

When it comes to these stories, I always want to know their dating methods.
What radioactive isotope.
What radioactive isotope.
