The LAGOP, much like the national GOP, is essentially neutered and dead. Just a place for political nerds to play politician and feel important while not actually accomplishing anything.

It cost 60 grand a year to incarcerate someone. So if you put them away for 10 years it's $600 grand

It costs about half of that when in the parish. And costs nothing in the state facilities. State facilities are self sufficient for the most part. DCI has the trustees working all over the place. They also farm. Angola does all kinds of money makers. Not sure about elayne hunts, but they have their stuff too.

ETA- just did the research. If you average out the parish prisoners and the state prisoners, it is a little over 8,000.00 a year, per inmate.

Were the victims riding in the car with him? If they made the choice to ride with him I have a hard time seeing a VH charge as justified.

Nice victim blaming there.

More than once have I decided to not ride with someone as they were drunk.

It's called common sense. No one forced any passengers to ride with him.

In other but relevant news, Joseph Branch has already served half his time in prison.

He was the idiot who mowed down the guy on Perkins near Pennington.

Are there details to the crash? Keniworth isn't exactly a high speed subdivision.

From the Advocate
quote:

Both the front and backseat passengers were killed after Kelly lost control of his Subaru Outback and crashed into a tree, then a house in the 1600 block of Kenilworth Parkway around 11 p.m. on March 13, a Saturday. The passengers were Corey Des Marteau, 21, of Weeki Wachee, Florida, and Joshua Perry, 24, of Baton Rouge.

It's 35mph but you can easily drive it 60mph.

I was guilty of it more than twice at his age and condition.

Because the LAGOP is one of the most poorly run organizations in the country.

While this is very true, the LAGOP is still run better than LaDems.

Both are total shite shows.

Doing what lane grigsby tells you doesn’t take much experience.

I drove up on that scene. It was terrible to see the aftermath.

My kids are young, but I will always pay for their Uber when they are older, no questions asked. I feel so sad for everyone involved. Lord knows I made some stupid choices at that age as well.

I just don't see how you can get drunk enough that you can still drive fast enough to frick up.

If I'm drunk and driving around my property there comes a point where I will no longer go above 30 mph or so.

And it comes somewhere before I lose the ability to stand up to take a piss without leaning on something.

How does that picture show that Biden wants other countries' felons?

What's his name... Chad Jones, screwed up his leg (and he was sober) by hitting a streetcar track in New Orleans. Freak accidents can happen. Maybe the driver was driving a little too fast, swerved and over corrected, sending him to his deadly path.

I don't know. I wasn't there. Fact is, JP was only married 2 years and the baby is only 5 months. Driver should serve some time.

He will get 10 years per charge ran concurrent. Do about 55 months tops.

Not even, in Louisiana you only serve 1/3 of your time for non-violent felonies. He’ll do good time classes and be put on work release. They’ll put him in protective custody the second he hits jail and be fine. It’ll be a shitty 2 years, but at least you’ll be able to save all your money from work release, and leave with about 10k in your account once released. He’ll have to learn a trade or start his own business, and forever be haunted by that night. Also, he will always have to watch his back, because the victim’s family will probably want revenge.
