It would be cool if they did the modern-retro thing like Dodge did with the Challenger.

Does the average air dam hit the ground on cars now?

I don't even know what that is. Not bad looking either.

Kia and Hyundai have gotten a lot better over the last few years.

I agree. I black that is a good looking car. Wheels can easily be changed if those are the ones that end up being produced.

It's Kia's k900 per Google. I've seen a few on the road, but I've never been in one/up close. It's basically another "cheap" high level car.

That concept looks good, but I'm wondering how well the proportions will translate into production when it is inevitably based on a front drive Ford sedan chassis.

quote:

It's not though, not anymore. Ford basically gave Lincoln it's own engineers and development staff to set the brand apart from Ford, like Lincolns of yesteryear.

What current Lincoln product isn't a rebadged Ford sedan or SUV?

quote:

They don't want people to look and say, oh there's a Crown Victoria with Lincoln badges

No, instead they look and say "oh there is a Taurus with a Lincoln MKS badge". That's probably a step backwards. At least the Town Car (Crown Vic) was reliable and sturdy.....and popular.

Don't hate on the Town Car. There is something to be appreciated about a big lady like that. Basing a Lincoln off of a Fusion (MKZ) isn't an
improvement.

I'm seriously liking this car. I'm afraid that the price point will be out of my reach though. That car looks bad arse though.

You fellas act like Ford is the first company to base their luxury line off of the normal production line. Acura, Infiniti, Lexus, Audi, Porsche all share bodies/chassis with normal every day cars. I'm sure I'm forgetting some too.

It's only shitty when an American company does it.

They'll probably use something different. But I hope Lincoln sticks with this concept and doesn't make any massive changes.

I've been impressed with a number of Ford's new designs. The new Mustang looks a lot better than I thought it would and the new Ford Explorer design is growing on me.

What I'm saying is that Lincoln is finally moving away from that with this car. Lincoln used to be "the" luxury car to have before it became a rebadged Ford. And I'm not hating on the Crown Vic, but Lincoln is supposed to be synonymous with high end luxury and it hasn't been like that for over a decade or more.

I'm simply questioning the claim that Lincoln is better because it doesn't use rebadged Crown Vics anymore. They still don't have a single product that isn't a rebadged Ford.

Their better competitors all have at least some unique products.

It's nice that there is a McConaughey thread right next to a Lincoln thread.

I think you are missing the point. Lincoln along with Mercury were notorious for rebadging cars and saying they were "luxury brands". In the past few years, Lincoln & Ford have tried to separate themselves as best they can.
