If I had to bet, I would bet that the dad did it. That happens a lot in these cases.
I just skimmed the story, but we are to believe that the blades would be placed that obviously and were not discovered until almost 1 p.m. Then the dad took the kid home to treat him and then called police? Who took the pic of the bloody hand? Why would it still be bleeding if it had been treated?
Story smells.

This country is full of loony tunes. Anyone who would harm a little child like that needs a severe beating, and I mean the kind that the whole town shows up for. Mom makes a picnic basket, dad packs up the kids, and the family makes a day of it. Good old American good times. It's just a shame we don't have Norman Rockwell with us anymore to capture the moment on canvas.

They found and removed about a dozen razors glued onto the equipment with a white, putty-like substance.
Damn, that's fricked up on so many levels.

Some sick fricks in this world
Posted on 3/25/14 at 4:53 pm to TigerDeacon
As sick as this sounds, I kind of hope you're right. It's easier for me to grasp, I guess. I really really hope there's no lasting damage to the kid's hand.

It would be the most rational explanation.

Assuming it's an adult I hope someone fricks him/her up.
But I suspect it's some sicko 13 year old boy with crack smoking parents. He has a promising career as a criminal ahead of him.

Not too long ago the lady in Winnsboro (or wherever) that set herself on fire and said the klan did it is a recent or local example.
A lot of these sensational stories are self-perpetrated.
