Don't know, don't care enough to go look it up. Do I know for a fact that there are racist cops in north county? Yes I do. Do I think that racism is the reason for every arrest in north county? Obviously not.

I'm sorry, dude, but re: expanding the STL County Police jurisdiction to take over "many municipalities"... do you think those high training and hiring standards and flush bank accounts are going to continue with a greatly expanded mission?

You've hit the nail on the head here. The problem will be whether or not the rest of us with money in STL County are willing to flip the bill for more cops etc. Obviously, the cities that currently utilize the County PD contract it out and that helps defray some of the added costs to the County, but you're 100% right on with this point.

What a political clusterfrick that was. County pissing on the City. City pissing on the County. State pissing on the County. County pissing on the State. And the FPD just trying to lay low and out of the scene.

Did Ferguson police officers perform illegal stops beyond the norm (for lack of a better term), compared to other departments? I just see vague references to Ferguson illegal stops, but no hard number.

I did try to find hard numbers in the Justice Dept. report, linked here, but the only justification for "illegal stops" was that they stopped too many of a certain race, not that they detained people for absolutely nothing.

Check out this horseshite. They don't have data on pedestrian stops, but "he said, she said" is enough to implicate an entire police force. Fishy.

quote:

Concerns Regarding Pedestrian Stops

Although available data
enables an assessment of the disparate impact of many FPD
practices, many other practices cannot be assessed statistically because of FPD’s inadequate data
collection. FPD does not reliably collect or track data regarding pedestrian stops, or FPD
officer
s

conduct during those stops. Given this lack of data, we are unable to determine whether
African Americans are disproportionately the subjects of pedestrian stops, or the rate of searches,
arrests, or other post
-
pedestrian stop outcomes. We note, howev
er, that during our investigation
we have spoken with not only black community members who have been stopped by FPD
officers, but also
non
-
black community members and
employees of local businesses who have
observed FPD conduct pedestrian stops of others, a
ll of whom universally report that pedestrian
stops in Ferguson almost always involve African
-
American youth.

Without going back and re-reading the whole thing and just looking at the table of contents, I would imagine that the entirety of Section A would apply to anyone regardless of race. Section B if I remember correctly as well, except that deals with the courts. Section C, if I remember correctly, specifically addresses what everyone here seems to be up in arms about and seem to think is the part that I'm most concerned about.

FPD must fundamentally change the way it conducts
stops

In addition, FPD enforcement efforts should be reoriented so that officers are required to take
enforcement action beca
use it promotes public safety, not simply because they have legal
authority to act.

Wow, so if no one or no thing is in imminent danger, then the Justice Dept. recommends that Ferguson police officers simply ignore it.

Yes, they even went back to look at emails from 2005, to try and nail the Ferguson PD

i called it extortion and blackmail by DOJ, immediately, still believe that's what it is.

Many months ago, DOJ/black politicians thought they had a deal, and Jackson would step down. He said FU, and today we have the DOJ Ferguson report. Holders revenge.

WELL NO shite! The feds think the routine response to missed court appearances and required fine payments should be absolutely nothing.

Well, it definitely fits the Obama/Holder M.O. of not enforcing the law when it affects certain Democrat constituencies.

Revealing. Though I do revel in myself as well.

Your glass is empty. Better get in your car and drive down to the liquor store.
