No way. That would cause an even bigger clusterfrick.

Close Washington street exit and call it a day.

Why? There is way less traffic on 110S than 10E. Would rather back up north BR trash on 110 than 10E

Do you know how many thousands of people work downtown and in state buildings, get off at 5, and go home that way? Obviously not.

A single line of traffic for all those people would take hours. The problem is idiots try to merge across 3 lanes of traffic as soon as they get across the bridge causing slowing to merge and let people in.

I've been told that this is the only section of I-10 that is reduced to one lane not due to construction.

the only option is widening 10 from the bridge to the split...having 110 one lane would still cause a mess at the merge

And there's a thread on the PT about the CEO of CATS getting a bigger salary.

Why is he due a raise? Because they keep the busses clean now or something.

From the article:

quote:

As first reported by Daily Report, the three-year contract that the full CATS Board of Commissioners will take up on Tuesday would provide for an annual base salary of $175,000, plus a full benefits package and an additional $700 monthly payment to cover out-of-pocket employee expenses for employee benefits. Mirabito would also be eligible for an annual performance-based pay raise of 5%, plus the opportunity to make an additional $12,500 per year if the CATS board develops metrics for incentive performance pay and Mirabito meets the requirements, according to the contract.

For comparison, Mayor Kip Holden makes about $146,000 a year, while Police Chief Carl Dabadie is paid about $160,000.

The CATS Finance and Executive Committee voted 3-0 to support the contract, which includes a pair of two-year renewal options after the initial three years. The full CATS board will take up the contract at its meeting Tuesday at 4:30 p.m. at the offices of BREC, 6201 Florida Blvd.

They need to build a lane down the center and use this machine to widen the road from 10/12 to 110/10

LINK

I think there is something that could be done about widening the interstate, if someone got creative.
