Offense

QB: Drew Brees

RB: Doug Martin

3rd Down RB: Pierre Thomas

FB: Mike Tolbert

WR1: Julio Jones

WR2: Vincent Jackson

Slot WR: Marques Colston (yes, he takes most of his snaps from there)

TE: Jimmy Graham

LT: Terron Armstead

LG: Ben Grubbs

C: Ryan Kalil

RG: Jahri Evans

RT: Zach Strief

*Btw, the o-lines in the NFC South in general are pretty bad*

Defense

LDE: Cam Jordan

DT1: Gerald McCoy

DT2: Star Lotulelei

RDE: Greg Hardy

SLB: Parys Haralson

MLB: Luke Kuechly

WLB: Lavonte David

CB1: Keenan Lewis

CB2: Alterraun Verner

Nickel CB: Desmond Trufant

SS: Kenny Vacarro

FS: Jairus Byrd

*SLB is super weak in the division*

Special Teams

K: Matt Bryant

P: Thomas Moorstead

KR: Devin Hester

PR: Devin Hester

*There are no real proven KR/PR commodities in the NFC South besides Hester, although I think Cooks could be one as a PR'er by years end*

You think Hester still has it?

The rest of the division is rookies or Cadet. It's slim pickings.

he might not, but like OP said, there really are no great RTs, SLBs, or KRs in this division

Did haralson really make the list?

Yes, he did, and I was shocked, but go look at the depth charts around the division. It's startling how bad that position is.

I counted him as an ILB. I think Haralson is the better all around player. He is actually an asset in coverage. Hawthorne makes more highlight reel type hits.

Could wind up being the top back. It'll be fun to bookmark this and redo it.

I would probably group the OLB's together like you did with the DT's and replace Parys Haralson with Thomas Davis but as is I think you nailed it.

28 positions.

14 are Saints. That says it all.

yep, Haralson is really the only debatable one. I guess Armstead kind of is as he only has 4 career starts.

At first glance I thought you did this with your B&G glasses on but then I remembered that we pretty much have more talent than all the other teams in the South at many positions

I'm trying to find someone to replace. I'd think there's a better LT than Armstead with his 3 games of experience, but I really don't know. Like you said, the Oline in the south is pretty bad. I almost have to think there's a better SLB than Haralson, but he's just solid all around and I'd have to look at other rosters to find someone

Edit: I assumed this was your list. Did you get this from somewhere?

The only one I see unseating Armstead would be Anthony Collins, but I think Armestead will prove me right this year.

It's my list.

I was trying to be as impartial as I could, but as I looked at the depth charts, it was surprising just how strong our roster is.

Atlanta depth chart

Carolina depth chart

Tampa Bay depth chart

If you're just taking the best 3 linebackers, Haralson wouldn't make the team. But if we're looking at their positions (Sam, Mike and Will), Haralson comes in first. David and Davis both play Will.

surely he can't be the best slb for a 4-3.

I guess we are talking only healthy starters for 2014.

Star or akiem hicks, hmmmm, hard choice without bias

Sam linebackers for 3-4 and 4-3 are different, but have similar responsibilities: set the edge in the run game (a lot of runs come to the right side), and cover TE's (they lineup there a majority of the time). A Sam in the 3-4 (I think) rushes the passer a bit more.
