Probably when the doom and gloom started.

With that being said, Sean Payton had a chance to draft Lamar Jackson when he was still coaching the Saints. He missed his chance and it seemingly doomed New Orleans, at least currently.

Jackson would not be successful in a Payton offense. That can't be overlooked here. He wound up in the perfect place for him, because Baltimore designs their offense around his skillset. Payton doesn't do that; he has a particular offense, and he needs a specific type of QB to run it.

He went 31st in the draft. Everyone passed on him, even the Ravens who took Hayden Hurst at 25 before moving back up to draft Jackson in the 1st.

Sheesh!

Lamar ended up in a place that was willing to take their time and develop him. There is no guarantee New Orleans or any other team should have done that.

Yep, us and 27 other teams including the Ravens themselves once. The Patriots, Browns, and Bills passed on him twice..

did you forget that payton forgot to design an entire offense for taysom when taysom had the full time opportunity? he tried to make taysom into drew brees.

2018 was certainly not prime Brees. That’s when the wheels fell off for him.

You think???... we stop throwing to the RB during that time, stop running screens, no snaps under center... Taysom offense under Sean was completely different than the one for Brees... Taysom just couldn't execute it

i think you just typed a lot of words into a post. Kamara had receptions when taysom started and kamara played. Taysom's worst game was a backup OL and practice squad level weapons against best D front in the league.

What the hell you talking about...AK went from 80+ receptions to 40 something... a couple games that Taysom started he didn't have one reception...

5 receptions
2 receptions
4 receptions

I don’t recall that Prime Brees either. You probably wish you were preparing for LIFE AFTER BREES!

Some knucklehead also showed Mahomes on our draft board.

KC said watch this. Remember you had “Prime Brees”

You that close to having a dynasty in either Mahomes or Jackson but you think you were still in Prime Brees mode.

At least the Green Bay Packers know when it is time to change scenery at QB.

Enjoy the Carr experience

When you have a player going from 5 receptions a game, to 2.5; that sounds like something that would be determined by the game plan. And during that 40 reception season, Taysom only started 4 of those games, so of course that would explain why Ak had 40 fewer receptions.

That has already been determined that was due to Mahomes not wanting to play behind Brees. He knew Saints & KC were both interested; Payton let him know they were going to draft him. Pat called up Andy, and KC jumped ahead of NOLA. There was also info that one of the coaches at KC loved Pat and leaked the interview information to him before he interviewed with Andy so he could better prepare.
