Keep our current pick at 11 and draft Solomon Thomas / Derek Barnett or trade back and grab a player like Hasson Reddick and acquire another draft pick?

We've proven we do better with picks not in the first round. So yes, I'd rather trade back and get more in return.

I'm willing to bet we draft Barnett or Thomas. Then the front office will trade back up to get McCaffrey in the late first or early second

I wouldn't mind getting McCaffrey because IMO he is the most versatile offensive player in the draft class. BUT I am not sure I would want to give up another pick in order to get him. Not to mention we are in DESPERATE need of difference makers AND depth on defense!

The only scenario in which I wouldn't want to trade back is if Reuben foster fell to us

Saints need to trade completely out of the 1st round and get as many 2nd round picks as they can. They can address many needs in the 2nd round. They could get a CB, Edge Rusher and maybe a Guard in the 2nd.
Saints have had too many needs to trade up the past 3 years.

You don't really believe that'd you? Do you realize that the last 7 1st rounders are still on the team an 6 started last year. Since 2006 only Sed Ellis and Meachum were not on active rosters in 16'?
Only two 2nd rounders over the same amount of time were still in the NFL and the only one on the 16' Saints team was Roman Harper.
Don't fool yourself.

True but we're also lacking that Reggie Bush/Darren Sproles type player and he can fill that role. That being said, no matter what, we should go defensive difference maker with our first pick.

lots of scatbacks in this draft.

I say we address DE/CB/G in free agency

First 2 rounds we also address DE/LB
I imagine 3rd round to be our scatback

Personally, I'd take Thomas, Barnett, or Charlton at #11. We're going to have plenty of money to buy some free agents and we're not going to have many roster spots available b/c of this. I doubt we trade back, but I wouldn't be surprised if we traded up into the late 2nd round like last year to take a player that falls(Vonn Bell)...giving up our 3rd & 4th rounder to do so. You know the Patriots will take that trade all day.

This roster actually has pretty good depth besides RB(even if we re-sign Hightower) & OL(Kelemete being the only 1 that can be trusted). We lack starters at OG, DE, LB, & CB. Also Safety if we cut Byrd.

Between F.A. & our top 3 picks...we should be able to add 7 pieces easily: RB, 2 OL, DE(maybe even 2 if Kikaha, Edebali, Kruger, & Tapp don't work out), LB, CB, & maybe a Safety.
