Would it be worth it to tank a draft to build up for the future?

We have just gone through another year where offensively the Saints are arguable among the best in the NFL and once again it is the defense and special teams that have caused this team to finish 7-9 for the 3rd straight year.

So what do we think will change next year and what will life after Brees be. Would it make sense to maybe trade away your 1st round pick in 2017 for a 1st rounder in 2018 and another 2nd in 2017 or 3rd in 2018.

That way you would have 2 Number one picks in 2018.

Going forward the Saints could use some drafts where they are able to pick up a couple of players.

if there ever was a time to tank it was these last 3 games because there is some talent coming back next year now it's stupid to think about it

Sometimes pick 7 is a bust and pick 23 is a hall of famer. Tanking is not a guarantee of getting a good player.

Especially the way the saints have drafted overall the past several drafts.

too much high end defensive talent in this draft, this class is absolutely loaded on defense. Corner and edge rusher particularly

No. We need to add all the defensive & O-Line talent we can while we still have Brees playing at an elite level. It's a win-win situation, b/c we have a chance after Brees leaves if our defense & O-Line is strong. We know we have the WR's, & RB's can be had for cheap. We're pretty much screwed if we have to break in a new QB with a shitty defense & O-Line...like severely screwed.
