Does anyone else feel like a corner back in the first round is a real possibility?

Not really. I think it was just a rare opportunity to get a premier player on the open market. The familiarity with having played him twice last season (specifically the game in Carolina where he sealed it with an incredible pick) probably added another layer to it.

I have to think we go D-line in some capacity with the first pick. Unless Ramsey somehow miraculously falls. But I wouldn't be completely surprised to see a DB taken, someone like Cravens in the 2nd wouldn't surprise me

William Jackson, the. more I look at him, looks like he could be the best CB in the draft.

It won't matter how talented our cornerbacks are if we can't generate any pass rush. Dline should be the number one priority.

I still think we target dline. The reason we were targeting norman, in my opinion, is that we wouldn't have to use any early draft pick on a db, leaving us the ability to upgrade the cb in free agency, and then the pass rush in the draft. However, that is a shite ton of money for one player and I am glad we didn't land him

Want Lawson, Rankins, or Spence with our first pick. Think it will be Rankins. We finally get that DT we need in the middle.

D line is the most important piece to a contending team outside of QB

We have Jordan, that's basically it. We need D line/pass rushers bad.

The fact that they were willing to pay that much money tells you they do beleive it's a big need tho. If not the first they might get one in the second

With the tenders signed for both Lelito and Kelemete, I am coming off OL in the 2nd, unless Jason Spriggs falls. Landon Turner is being predicted as late as the 6th Round lately, after being a LOCK for the 3rd during most of the process. I hope that just means we grab him in the 4th.

One of the safeties we like, Tyvis Powell and Jayron Kearse, should be there in the 5th. So, if you believe that we are just going to bolster the Kikaha/Tull rotation on the EDGE somewhere in the third with a Bronson Kaufusi or Yannick Ngakoue, then YES, taking a CB in the first 2 picks could be possible, like:

1st: Vernon Hargreaves III, CB / William Jackson III, CB
2nd: Chris Jones, DT / Austin Johnson, DT
3rd: Bronson Kaufusi, DE / Yannick Ngakoue, EDGE

or

1st: Jarran Reed, DT
2nd: Sean Davis, CB
3rd: Bronson Kaufusi, DE / Yannick Ngakoue, EDGE

Now, if just EVERYTHING fell in our laps, to heck with CB.... I'd love to see:

1st: Jarran Reed, DT
2nd: Noah Spence, DE
3rd: Deion Jones, OLB
4th: Landon Turner, G
5th: Jayron Kearse, S
7th: Cody Core, WR

We can't hope for Su'a or Noah in the 2nd, if we take a CB first....

i feel the Saints might be aggressive and trade up for an elite defensive playmaker

The one factor we really dunno is the health of Keenan Lewis. If they are not sold that he is 100% or could have ongoing issues I could see the CB need factor prolly higher than most of us have it.

My bigger thought is if they could wriggle enough bucks for Norman then I would have preferred seeing the same money spent on a vet guard. We all want more pass rushing. Aldon Smith even with his risks went cheap. Chris Long 1yr/$2mil, Clayborn 2yr/$9mil, Jaye Howard 2yr/$12mil, etc. Disappointing we didn't even hear an "interested in" news

they're going to take the best player regardless of position and people will probably freak out because it's not the guy that is commonly given to them in mock drafts

wouldn't be shocked if it was an offensive lineman

That was my thought about Norman as well. We are on the hook for Keenan this year, and he deserves the chance to show us what he has, but he is easily chopped or forced to take a pay cut in 2017-18. Norman would for SURE have been replacing him. I look at our salary commitments going forward, and there is NOTHING but Cam Jordan after 2018-19. Byrd and Fleener have easy contracts to cut after that. If Drew ends up signing just a 2-Year deal after this season, to play until he is 40, we will have about eleventy billion dollars in cap when he leaves, and maybe 8 players on the team. (Yes I know we will resign Terron and Unger, and this class, and etc... I also hope Drew stays long enough to end up on top of the record books. Could somebody please bump Tom Brady and aggressively sprain his ankle?)

My guess on why Norman chose the Redskins over us, is the length of the deal. I speculate we were probably offering him a front loaded deal to be in line with the rest of our contracts, maybe 4-Years $60MM, $45 Guaranteed, whereas the Skins offered him just that little more... Good for him.

I honestly think it was all part of the smoke screen. Along with this stupid Drew Brees report that he told them he would take a pay cut and they said no. Think about how stupid that is. Do you actually think Drew went to Loomis and said "Hey look I know you guys are paying me 30 mil this year but hey I'll take just 20 mil so you can sign Norman" and then Loomis looked at him and "Hell no **** you stupid! We ain't doing that shite! frick You! We want to pay you 30mil!!"

Come on guys it was all just a front. Just playing the media to make the other teams think we are feuding with Drew. They want teams like the Jets and Denver to believe that we are gonna take a QB at 12 so they better either move ahead of us (causing defensive players to drop) or trade with us to get their QB.
