Why Not Kaepernick

Prelude: If you dislike the guy because of what he stands for our his beliefs this thread isn't for you. The NFL has basically told him yeaH we'll sign dope head, women beaters, manslaughter convictions, etc. but not anyone who takes on social issues or stands up for their beliefs. That and the fact that the guy knew he'd have a tough time getting work after stepping out on a limb (opted out of his contract) shows me the balls he's carrying and I admire it because I don't think I would have done the same.
Body: As far as football purposes go the guy was honestly damn good last year on a team that was beyond terrible talent wise. He hovers around a 60% completion rating and thats with some terrible wideouts and makeshift oline. It's not very often a team can add a backup quarterback that drove his team (with defense) to a superbowl a few years prior. He gives you the ability to extend plays and has a big arm with enough experience to step in for Drew when he hangs it up in a year or two and not look like a deer in headlights. He's not a star just a quality player that would benefit us IMO.

Kap is more washed up than Brees. And while I agree that comparatively the thugs of the league don't get proper punishment, with events examined indepentently Kap got what was coming to him.

No. He's not a good football player. The 49er's team he took to the Super Bowl was stacked (Vernon Davis, Frank Gore, Crabtree, Delaine Walker, etc.) and that defense was scary. Considering what Alex Smith has done since then, it should be clear that it was the roster that was good, and not either of the quarterbacks.
You cannot exclude his political activism from the discussion, because like it or not you get the whole player on and off the field. The Saints have made an effort to to get rid of people who are trouble off the field, and that is all Kaep is. We don't need a back-up QB causing drama.

Lol, I'll simply say no to this but I'm not touching this topic with a 10 inch pole.

His actions on field quickly turned into a media circus off the field. You can make SJW arguments for what he did, but as far as teams are concerned, it's "trouble" regardless.

5 or so years ago when they were a solid team, that is indeed stacked. It's crazy how as players get older they get worse.
