He doesn't exactly seem raw

i saw a good # of OSU games last year and he was always touted as polished. this was before he ran his superman 40

He really looks like the most skilled WR in the draft right now

i still give this to lee, but lee isn't as explosive

watkins is as explosive, bigger, and a bigger overall playmaker

You're forgetting most our "cheap depth" comes from late picks or UDFA.

Giving up a 3rd for someone with Cooks abilities is bad?

If Sean thinks the guy is Steve Smith or Desean then we got a steal. Next pick please.

is he better than lee + a 3rd rounder (as just an example)? it's not like lee wasn't a badass and doesn't have elite abilities

i'm just pointing out that your argument is illogical and ignores the big picture

Rounds 4 thru the Saints always love finding these obscure small school gems. It's become their signature.

I don't think anyone is complaining of the actual pick itself, just the what the Saints gave up to get it in a WR heavy draft. 3rd rounders are usually starters and we do have gaps regardless of what some people say on this board..

I love the actual pick itself.

Not real big on giving up a 3 to move up like we did.

I turned to my friend and literally said how very Cleveland of us... and then Cleveland did it too a few picks later... kinda funny.

I love that we are getting Cooks, but I don't know if its a "get you over the hump" type of pick.
Maybe it is. I think that Seattle is in Sean's head a little in that he thinks the only thing missing to beat them is someone to make Sherman and co defend deep

Saints have had the least amount of draft picks than any other franchise the past few yrs, yet somehow continue to be a successful franchise.

Why? Because we scout better than most franchises.

It's not a coincidence we continue to have success with the least amount of draft picks but continue to succeed and find more hidden gems in late rounds and udfa.

You would think after all these yrs ppl would stop bitching and trust sp and the front office.

I think the major issue is that there are still key holes the Saints need to fill and they are putting a lot of faith into some unheralded youngsters.

I know people think this team has no holes, but it does in depth, and that is the issue. Center is still an unknown, and CB may not be as big a need if PRob gets back to his 2011 form, but that is still an unknown.

In the end, Cooks is going to be a good one, but trusting Payton on high round WRs isn't a great history.

Meacham is the only 1st rounder he's taken, and while he was okay, he was a bust given his draft position and couldn't surpass some of those in front of him.

All in all, I personally think this was a draft to avoid giving up picks.

Last time we traded up into the first round we picked Ingram.

Mark fricking Ingram.

Once again. Mark Ingram.

Bingo....especially for WRs, arguably the deepest position in the draft.

they're not really that great in the draft, so i don't know why you're making some argument that they're infallible
