I say not Ingram. Dude cannot find a hole, has no burst through it when he does find it, and can't break a tackle to save his life.

Discuss.

This is not an Ingram problem this is a Saints Oline problem. IMO the Saints Oline is built to protect the pass and not built for the run. About the opposite of Dallas.

You could have any of the best backs in the league right now and I don't think it'd matter much.

Ingram. Easily.

He is a smart back. He runs the ball reasonably well, he pass blocks well, and he runs good routes and catches the ball reasonably well.

Payton trusts him on all downs.

So basically you're saying Hightower? Because it definitely shouldn't be Cadet, Murphy or Lasco.

A 2014 Khiry Robinson would be real refreshing right about now.

Why not Lasco? And Hightower would be a step up from Ingram in running. Maybe not pass blocking/catching.

What has Lasco done that would make you think he's an upgrade from Ingram?

Lol. Ingram is a damn good back and perfect for this offense. Coaching and line performance are the issues. It's very obvious when Ingram is about to get the ball but he still hits his holes hard and always gets an extra yard or two. Why not bash Brees for constantly looking off his rb's who are always open for an easy dumps.

Ingram gets hit in the backfield half the time, and y'all think it's his fault.

Ingram and Strief should start the "Underappreciated Saints club"

Ingram is a very good running back and a complete running back. This is a laughable topic that gets repeated on this board, but we all know why.

I'm sorry you can't get over the fact that he played at Bama.

Anyone who watches this team and comes away thinking Ingram is even close to being an issue with it just doesn't understand what they are looking at.

quote:

Entering last year, the assumption was Ingram would be the thunder to C.J. Spiller’s lightning, with the latter serving as the primary receiving back. Well, that isn’t what happened. In 12 games, Ingram saw 57 targets, catching 50 for 405 yards. That was good enough for eighth among running backs in catches and 10th in yards, despite only playing three quarters of the season.

quote:

Mark Ingram is the likely workhorse running back if he can stay healthy; last season, his 59.4 elusive rating was seventh in the NFL among qualifying backs, and his 2.9 yards after contact per attempt was the fifth-highest mark in the league.

We saw what happens to backs like AD in the NFL and LF7 in college when they can't win battles at the point of attack. Let's see what happens when Armstead gets healthy.

Agree on Armstead. He and Peat were opening up some nice size holes on that left side.

The Saints have one of the worst run blocking OLs in the NFL. He's definitely the best RB on the team like it or not.

When they are healthy, the should be pretty good comparatively in the NFL. Unfortunately, we haven't seen them fully healthy this year.

In the healthiest game (Raiders), he ran for 4.8 ypc and had 2 catches for 29 yards

Someone said forte? Who's losing reps to Bilal Powell?

Ayaji? Who has not done a single thing as a starter until this past week? Lol!

Hightower who has a worse ypc? Lasco who is still working on his pass protection and receiving game?

Robinson who can't get healthy to even play on any team?

When the OL can generate a push and Ingram fail, let me know.
