that's a great review. I can see him as a day one WLB starter. Unfortunately he's looking more likely gone before #59. Possible and would be a great add, just not one to count on. The good part is that LBs are one of the most common "fallers" in drafts.

He seems small for the position, so that may play a factor in a potential drop.

The combine starts in 5 days, so we can look forward to some more accurate big boards in the coming weeks.

listed as a Combine Sleeper...

DE Cam Johnson: Virginia (6-4, 270)
A solid college defensive end who has never been much of a sack artist but there are definitely some tools there. Showcases natural fluidity in his drop and in coverage and has the ability to mature into a more sudden pass rusher. Will get looks in both a 34 and 43 front and could be the Jabaal Sheard of the 2012 class.

NFL COMBINE HOMEPAGE

workouts for DL & LBs are on Monday 02/27 if ya wanna see hopeful #59s in action without unis

The main thing that scares me about this guy is his last name.

the bad part is guys like Johnson or Curry that might shine at the Combine is that their stock would likely rise beyond reach of the #59 spot.

In some thread, maybe this one, I was reminding meat about this time last year. Then we were talking Aldon Smith looking like a great potential 1st Rder. He was on fire so much at the Combine that he ended up going what, #7 overall?

Maybe someone looking higher now could fall. Martez Wilson was in discussion as a late 1st/early 2nd type pick. He had arguably the worst Combine of any player- thus, he falls to us at #72 in the 3rd Rd.

My choice is David. Idk what it is but I really like the way he plays when I've watched him. He has great drive. I feel like He could eventually be the leader of this D when Vilma leaves, he has that kind of drive and attitude on and off the field. Plus his tackling is spot on and coverage is way better than Shanle IMO

to me that is what the D needs- a playmaker, a straw that stirs the drink. In the NFL ya gotta have that at QB to be successful on offense. Saints? Super check mark on that. On defense ya need the same thing but it can come from different positions. Sharper was like that at FS in '09. Polomalu, Ray Lewis, Ware, Jared Allen, Suh, etc.- those kinda players are not only impacting at their position but they affect the performance of the whole defense.

Besides someone new I think Jenkins, Wilson, and Galette could still step up into that kinda player.

thats why I like David too, I think he would mesh well into that young core , and hopefully get this D going in the right direction. I just hope he doesn't break out and beast at the combine, and somehow slip out of range.

One of the most intriguing linebacker prospects in this year’s NFL draft will miss the Scouting Combine because he has pneumonia.

Utah State linebacker Bobby Wagner was hospitalized Monday in Arizona with pneumonia, FOXSports.com reports. Wagner’s agent, Kenny Zuckerman, said Wagner was not cleared to travel to Indianapolis but should be out of the hospital by the weekend and fully recovered within a few weeks. It’s not known yet whether Wagner will participate in Utah State’s March 8 pro day.

Wagner wasn’t a big-name college player, but he followed a good senior season with an impressive showing at the Senior Bowl, and NFL.com noted this week that a good workout at the Combine would solidify his status within the first three rounds of the draft. Now Wagner won’t get the opportunity to have a good workout.

Wagner was an All-WAC selection for three straight seasons in college and had seven tackles and an interception in the Senior Bowl.

If we can get Irvin, Lewis and Jared Crick I'd be one happy fricker. I'll just take Irvin and Lewis. I've been on Lewis for a long time. Put 20 lbs on him and hes a monster. Bruce Irvin is the guy I think Spags wants rushing the passer
