Who here will confess they are a little bummed at the Brees news?

No, not the news that he is hurt, but the news he isn't hurt enough to miss the season.

Seems quite a few here were counting their draft picks and ready to move on from the Brees/Payton era, especially considering we are 0-2 and looked just as bad in both losses.

We can use the up vote/down vote system if you don't want to admit it and ruin your ST-cred.

Up Vote - Happy Brees will be back sooner rather than later
Down Vote - Annoyed Brees will be back

I up voted. Not ready to see him hang it up as a Saints.

Yeah. I'm real upset that the greatest player in our franchise history and a genuinely good man isn't hurt bad.

I'm elated that it appears he'll only miss at most a game or two. It's not his fault that the team can't draft. I'll take four more years of Brees. Especially if he can get protection. It took 40 years for this team to get a great QB, we've got about a 5% chance of finding another one in the next ten years.

I'm glad he's possibly not as hurt as originally reported and hope he's able to finish out the season.

Having said that, I can also see the other viewpoint of those that are ready to move on and, considering that the Saints are already 0-2, possibly putting in McCown / Grayson to start seeing what we've got for the future.

It's somewhat an "interesting" position to be in.

The chances of them being a top 15 NFL QB, slim and none.

I still go with option 3. I hope Brees is okay and could come back, but I don't want him back and beaten to a pulp for what probably amounts to a season with double-digit losses.

I'm absolutely thrilled that he's not seriously injured. Anyone who's actually disappointed is a disgrace of a sports fan.

I don't disagree at all. I'm just trying to look at it from the point of view of those that might be ready to move on from Brees, based on the OP's question. (Certainly not my position, btw)

Does this even need to be a thread? Im thrilled he is okay. That injury possibly cost us the game yesterday. We could be 1-1 if he stays healthy with our loss to a top 5 nfl team on the road. Now the problem is finding out how healthy he will be the next few

I'm seeing a lot of people that think it's as easy as letting him go and they'll immediately find another franchise QB. Green Bay and Indianapolis are an anomaly to what happens to most teams when moving on to a new QB.

I generally dismiss any fan blaming the failures of this team on brees.

Are you crazy without Drew the Saints are nothing, plus we would screw up the high draft pick anyway

No point in moving on until Brees can't play or we've got a Luck or Rodgers in our pocket.

Grayson is a qb that should only get a chance when Brees calls it a career.

Drew Brees is the king of New Orleans. It use to be Pete Fountain, but Drew is a runaway winner of this title. This wonderful citizen of NewOrleans has brought many tears of happiness. He's an incredible competitor, and even a better man. He and his wife are loved by everyone in Louisiana, and for you to post this subject is ridiculous. Shame on you.

I'll be critical when he makes bad throws, but I won't blame him until he starts performing poorly when he's not getting drilled 10 times a game.

I hope he puts 300 yds and 3 TDs up against Carolina this weekend.

That said, it's understandable: something like this happens and you talk yourself into accepting it as for the best; you make your peace and try to move on. It sucks, because we all want Brees to remain our QB, and stay just like he was at 30, etc, but we know he just can't.
And then, after lying to ourselves and accepting it, he comes back, and you feel great... but you know you have to do this again sometime fairly soon.

It's kind of like watching a family pet at the end, like the dog you had and grew up with. A part of you hates to lose him, but another part hates to see him so feeble and suffering. And most of all, you don't want goodbye to happen more than once.
