Carolina is the only team that would beat the Seahawks in Seattle. They have the D and Cam is definitely capable of pulling off a huge upset in a setting like that.

If the seeding stays the way it is now, the 49ers would have to lose in the 1st round in order for Seattle to get matched up with the 5th seed.

Am I right on this? The 1st seed is always going to play the lowest seed available?

In 2011 the Packers were 15-1 and Saints fans had already conceded that they were not playing the NFC Championship at home. Then the Giants went to Lambeau and beat the holy frick out of Green Bay and the Saints blew a chance to host the NFC Championship.

It IS possible. How often does the 1 get to the Super Bowl in the NFC? When was the last time a 1 besides the Saints got to the Super Bowl?

#1 seed always plays the lowest seed remaining. #2 seed would play either #3,4 or 5

The way I see it, #1 Seattle #2 Saints

#3 Detroit vs#6 Carolina
#4 Cowboys/Eagles vs #5 San Francisco

#1 Seattle vs #5 San Francisco
#2 Saints vs #3 Detroit

#2 Saints vs #5 San Francisco

One of the home wildcard teams will win. I just don't see the 49ers losing and Carolina could be vulnerable especially if they go 2-2 or worse down the stretch. Arizona could be the only team sneaking in if the 49ers/Panthers trip up.

49'ers best chance I think. Two dick coaches having a sword fight. Epic.

The year before when Arizona was the #1 seed

Arizona was the 4. They played the game before the NFC Championship game on the road. The game where Jake Delhomme threw like 11 picks.

The only reason Arizona hosted the NFC Championship was because the Eagles upset the #1 Giants at home.

yeah, the Saints were the last #1 seed in the NFC to reach the Super Bowl.

weren't the Colts also the last #1 seed to get to from the AFC?

I know for sure that was the last time both #1 seeds made it in the same season.

2010, 2011, and 2012 have seen wildcard teams get healthy towards the end of the season and get red hot in the playoffs and go on to win the Super Bowl.
