Is this the last voided year for Brees? When will we have positive cap space after a season?

At this moment we are in the red by estimated $30M for 2023, but in the green by estimated $80m for 2024. That’s only 27 guys under contract though.

Once we have a starting QB on a rookie deal.

Who cares? It’s just an accounting exercise.

The cap just keeps going up, so you really don't have to worry about that. Last season bit the Saints in the arse because COVID caused the cap to go down. Hell, look at the deals MT13 and Kamara have. They will look like steals next season, based on what other elite guys are getting.

We never will because that is not the Saints strategy. We kick the can because $1 today is worth more than a $1 tomorrow.

Yes, but we now have other dead money on the books
Armstead - $13M
Brees - $11.5M
Winston - $3M
Tre'Quan - $954k
Murray $850k

With the way Mickey, and Harvey, work the cap, never. It appears he views these exercises as a 0% interest loan on future caps that he can keep deferring. The accountant in him will never allow him to stop

I feel the strategy should always be to borrow from next year because there will always be a next year and the cap will always go up....that is unless the team is absolute dog shite.

Only down $30M next season may as well be up $50M

To get there we would have to lose a lot of games for a lot of years. In Mickey We Trust.
