What does this offense look like with Jameis at QB?

So I think we should expect Brees to miss a few weeks here. Especially with the record of our opponents the next few weeks. Last year Teddy didn’t look good in the rams game that he came into during the first quarter when Brees went down. But after a week of game planning he looked great. So what do we expect after a week of game planning with Jameis?

For one I expect to see a ton of Taysom at QB. I do think he will throw some too. A lot of Taysom runs in the red zone as well. I think we will see Payton lean on the rushing attack some more also.

As far as the passing game goes, I think we will see Sean mix in some deeper throws. Regardless of how you feel about Winstons field vision and accuracy we know he can throw the deep ball. The threat of the deep ball may actually open up more of the short to intermediate passing game as well. It’s very easy to double Thomas when you don’t believe the ball will go over thirty yards in the air. So this could lead to Thomas not seeing a ton of brackets.

That being said, this is when we will see the beat of Payton. He did it last year and he will do it again this year. When he feels like he has a challenge he always does his best work.

One other thing that we can feel good about is the defense. They have stepped it up to the level they should be playing at. When Brees went down last year they cranked it up. I expect to see a high level performance from here out.

We will see what the MRI results in but I think the saints will be just fine as long as they get Brees back by the playoffs.

I think that is a stretch. He really didn’t look great until the Tampa game, but certainly better than vs the Rams

We stringed together some nice team wins.

I say just let him sling it. Dig up the 2011 playbook and go to town. Do it live

The first week he did enough to beat the Seahawks. He looked way better than he did in the rams game. And as each week went on he looked better and better.

IMO, Drew is done. His face on the sideline and his press conference were not the ones of someone who is only out a few weeks.

Regarding Jameis, I just want to throw a few deep balls a game. He is going to throw some picks, but you have to live with that with him.

Sweet. Guess it’s not too serious then.

That’s a bit premature. I’m sure Drew is upset because he has to miss any time in what may be his last season. Especially on a team this stacked. I’ll wait to hear the MRI results before jumping the gun.

I think Jameis easily could have thrown a couple of ints yesterday.

It was getting to the point where I was hoping they would just keep it on the ground because that turnover was coming.

I realize it was a game he wasn’t planning to play in. But he was NOT able to function yesterday.

fricking right. He gets bashed for the turnovers but the dude still passes for 5k freaking yards. In a better system I think he’s going to do really well.

Teddy is an entirely different animal. Super conservative, doesn't gamble, not very mobile. Winston is known for turning the ball over. More risk/reward.

To be fair, every single quarterback in the first year with Arians turned the ball over a ton. I’m not saying Jameis won’t make mistakes but that’s also been consistent with Arian.

"Drew is done" is doomer bs. He threw a great touchdown right before the half. A highly athletic one at that. Nothing on the field suggests he's out for the season.

No surprise here but I think he takes it really slow and like Teddy tailors it all to JW and his strengths cause he knows his defense is playing so damn well.

And like everyone else want to see him air it out a couple of times!

Will wait & see but I have never heard that tone of voice or seen that demeanor from Brees. He is obviously concerned.
Without Drew, guessing the playbook will be simplified depending more on the run with Winston. Probably see more of Taysom; a two QB system. Both have better deep arms, so take a few shots downfield.
This is why Winston is here for minimum money. It is his one and problem only chance of coming back. Sean will have to be at his best.

We know we will get the best of Sean in these situations. We suffered a ton of injuries yesterday but hopefully none are that serious.

Saints will be fine no matter who The QB is. I hope to see some deep balls by Winston that would open up this Offense to a higher level

Drew's demeaner looked to me like he'll be out at least a few games. If it's an injury that he's maybe never had before, then that could explain some of the somber tone he had last night. Also at 41, you never know just how long injuries will affect you.

Probably won't see much more of the running game even though that would make sense, because Payton likes to try and seemingly force his QBs into rhythm. You'll see a lot of RB/WR screens, especially early on to get Jamies in rhythm. Probably a flea flicker. I would imagine the game plan would not be much different for the first game, but if it goes into multiple games then we'll see a more drastic change
