What do you think about Kwame Geathers in the 5th?

LINK

He played NT behind a potential 1st-2nd rd draft pick. He is very big. I think he could still be there in the 4th or 5th round. I don't know too much about him though. Do yall think he would be a good value pick?

I woudln't mind him in the 5th. Who is our backup NT as of now?

I don't really think we have one. Akiem Hicks is more of a DE in a 3-4 but that is the mostly likely option of a backup right now.

He's a definite prospect at NT for a mid round pick. Along with this guy. Montori Hughes
Although Hughes' red flags are mental and Gathers are performance based.

Kinda hope Star falls to us in the first and we don't need to take a DT later on.

Was gathers the one who was like 30# overweight in the SEC champ game or was that Jenkins? At any rate, I'd def take gathers in the fifth.

I don't think he'll be on the board in the fifth, just a hunch.

Very slim to none chance I think Star is there at #15. Now if we trade back I wouldn't mind getting Jenkins or Jessie Williams in the second. Or maybe Williams from UNC could drop into the second. I wouldn't want to use our first pick on one of them if we do trade back because I think there will def be value in the second round too.

I like him a lot in later rounds. Some nice bloodlines and tie to the Saints already. In an earlier mock I had him to NOLA.

He's a giant, 6'6" 355lbs.

I would be good with Geathers in the 5th. He is a large man. His size could pay dividends, but I agree that he will probably be a bit of a project.

I'd enjoy that pick greatly in the 4th or 5th

is Star big enough to play NT in the NFL? I'd assume we'd use him as a 3-4 end like Ngata.

re: What do you think about Kwame Geathers in the 5th?
He's been projected to play both, like Ngata, because of his strength.

LINK

quote:

Utah plays him at both nose tackle and defensive end, asking him to two-gap often. He will be coveted in both of those roles by NFL teams who run 3-4 defenses, although his combination of size, strength, and quickness make him a fit in almost any type of defensive system.

LINK
quote:

The athletic Lotulelei can do just about anything at the next level. In a 4-3, he could play nose tackle or be a three-technique. For a 3-4 defense, Lotulelei could play defensive end or nose tackle. Given his versatility, it is difficult to say which position would be his best because he could excel at all of them.

LINK
quote:

Strong, heavy hands to control his opponent and possesses the upper and core strength to simply rag-doll offensive linemen. Possesses a thick, classic Polynesian build well suited to anchoring against the run, making him a natural candidate to play inside at nose guard or defensive tackle, as well as a five-technique defensive end.

I have feeling we are going to draft Brandon Williams

What leads you to that feelings. As is right now I don't see that happening at all
