What could make 2017 the year for the Saints?

What all needs to happen?
It seems the hiring of guys like Nolan and Nielsen are giving guys hope for the defense.
Are we a couple of key signings and another good draft class like the one in 2016 away from a real run?
What would it take? Zeitler, Bouye and a great draft class that included Barnett or Thomas?
Or maybe go after a Charles Johnson type vet for the other DE and then draft Foster at LB and then draft a DE in the 2nd? What do you guys think is keeping the Saints from making a run like Atlanta or Carolina.
Atlanta was 8-8 last year before making their run.

Winning the close ones. Same issue the last two years.
But they appear to be on the right track with the hires. Hopefully FA goes well AND they stay healthy. A good draft could have us going from good to great.

Need playmakers in the back 7. Need to create more turnovers.

I agree. I think a corner like Trumaine Johnson, Joe Haden, Bouye or Stephon Gilmore coupled with Reuben Foster would take this defense to new heights.
The Saints need that force in the middle. That hardnosed mother fricker that everyone fears.

Anthony needs to step up, a linebacking core of Ellerbe, Anthony and Robertson is not bad.
Breaux and Williams have to stay healthy
Bell needs to improve in coverage
find a pass rusher opposite Jordan, and hope Kikaha can come back and play well.
The Saints are not as far off as people think, this team is almost identical to 2008.
the 2009 offseason was not flashy, but the Saints killed it.
