I know there the same age but, joe haden is already in a 5yr contract extention that is about 2yrs in.. We can save ourself breaking a super contract on butler and absorb his.. And still have the same level of play and prob only have to give up our second rd pick to the browns who are loading up on picks.. I have details of his contract also.. Its just sounds like a better deal to me.. Wat do u think?

He also plays for the browns and butler the best defensive scheme in the league. Not saying I'd want Haden over butler but it's about as far a situation from NE as possible.

So is our defensive situation unfortunately.

Butler is going to be another pie in the sky FA up and coming star that the Saints sign to a contract that he never up and comes to.

Mark my word, I see another Jerious Byrd in the making. Saints are notorious for making these bad moves going all the way back to the last time the Saints plucked young rising star Tebucky Jones off the Pat's roster.

The Saints have the 11th and 32nd picks, they can get a great edge rusher AND a quality young CB. Go out and get Sherman for a year or two as insurance and profit.

Never mind this is the Saints we're talking about, they'll blink and trade the 32nd for Butler then sign him to a ridicules contract and he'll under preform the whole time he's in the black and gold. I've seen this movie several times.

How would you recommend getting Sherman? Their cost would be similar at best, but you can lock up Butler, who's younger and not coming off injuries, for likely cheaper per year. Also, the Hawks supposedly want more than a 1st rounder

And holy misspelled words Batman.

Jarius Byrd wasn't an up and coming player. He was a 3 time all-pro player. He was elite at his position, but was injured.

Butler has already arrived too.

Right? Because the Saints have never signed a FA that has worked out. SMH Free agency is just as much a crap shoot as the draft is but I'd rather take my chances on someone who actually has NFL experience. We need to win now and Butler gives us that chance to do so. But your solution is to get Shermann, with whom the Seahawks want a 1st and a 3rd for? Brilliant idea!

It's funny you say this

quote:

Saints are notorious for making these bad moves

then say

quote:

Saints have the 11th and 32nd picks, they can get a great edge rusher AND a quality young CB

without mentioning that the Saints have drafted like shite since Payton has been here. You just assume they are going to hit both picks out of the park?

Is he though? Is there really enough evidence there to show he is good? My main concern is this dude being a one hit wonder or a system guy.

The longer this goes on, the more concerned I am with acquiring him. The money is a lot, then to add the high pick on top of that it becomes a big risk for someone who could be a big bust.

He's always hurt and he's not that good anymore. Dumb thread.

I don't see how a guy can grade out really favorably in man coverage and you draw that up to being a system guy. That just does not make any sense.

Brandon Browner was a system guy, as in being in that defense they could hide his deficiencies but was greatly exposed when asked to do more here.

You can't just simply chalk coverage and ball skills up to being in a system.

I don't believe in a CB being great for 3 seasons because of "the system".

Joe Haden sucks. Dude has been massively overrated his entire career because he would line up against ones. How valuable is a CB tracking if he gets constantly slaughtered.

I don't get this fascination with joe haden??????

Joe Haden signed a 5 year, $67,500,000 contract with the Cleveland Browns, including a $16,000,000 signing bonus, $45,078,193 guaranteed, and an average annual salary of $13,500,000.

so why the hell would we ever be stupid enough to take over such a contract for an older player who is always hurt and with questionable knees, "most likely" diminishing skills and speed going forward ???????????????

So Butler is a bad move bc we suck in FA and Tebucky Jones, but Sherman would be a great pick-up bc we would suddenly become great at FA and Brandon Browner (which is a lot more relevant than Tebucky Jones who was here under Haslett)
