Before anyone decides to stone Ingram.

quote:

Payton briefly addressed Butler's injury after Tuesday's practice, saying Ingram and Butler banged knees. Payton also said he thinks Butler will be fine and the Saints were fortunate it wasn't worse.

Mike Triplett ?@MikeTriplett 1h No live contact in #Saints OTAs but Ingram turned corner hard on swing pass and ran into Butler as he came over to impede his path.

A little too "sudden" for Butler, I guess.

I've never cared for Ingram from the start. Being and LSU fan I hated him. When we drafted him I wasn't sure if it was a good move, and I stand by that today. He hasn't proven me that he was worth that pick. It's funny how a great offensive line can make somebody look so good at Alabama. However, he showed signs of good potential last year and I hope he can average over four yards a carry this year. I wouldn't blame Ingram on that injury because he can't control that. Hopefully Butler will be fine and Ingram will have a great year.

Payton is bad about doing this - but did he mention a timetable for a return at all? Assuming he didn't say much else other than the blurb above, right?

yeah, its his only chance when the defender is in shorts and checking out boobs in the crowds during the motions of a drill.

Butler eventually came to his feet, but had both of his arms around the shoulders of trainers as they helped walk Butler out of the indoor practice facility.

Butler has spent most of the last two weeks with the first-team defense at outside linebacker with Will Smith manning the other outside spot.

Others who missed Tuesday's practice were ... tackle Terron Armstead

Although Payton didn't mention him, sixth-round pick linebacker Rufus Johnson wasn't at practice.
