So my wife works with a lady whose niece goes to school w/ yaddy yaddy. Well she spoke to sister (niece mom) who actually talked to Beth Payton. Now the conversation has now gone through 3 woman so basically the only word that fell all the way trickled down was "retirement".

Now, this isn't breaking news nor the first we heard it being spoke of... but pardon me, Payton is 48... could Payton just retire from coaching in 2 years (50) and just go the front office "consultant" route at that time? It just seems way too early to be planning retirement if you plan on coaching another 10 plus years.

IMO his wife is a texas woman. she wants to retire there. The house they bought is in one of the best neighborhoods in the country and it's a sick pad. So why not jump on it now so your kids can benefit from the school system and safety the place provides. No offense to the north shore and nola, but we got no where near what that place can offer.

Who gives a flying f.u.c.k?
Maybe he does retire in two years from coaching. Is that such a bad thing to retire worth $10-15 million and then go work in a front office. Maybe he coaches 5 more years. Who knows.

His wife probably only sees him a few hours a week during the season as it is. She gets her new dream house where she most likely wants to live the rest of her life. He gets to focus all of his energy on being a coach during the season.

Why is this debate still going on about this?

I don't think he will be retiring from coaching anytime soon. The point being missed here I think is real estate. The Payton's obviously know where they want to live now and also whenever Sean does retire. From what I understand this place is a new development. Suppose they wait for Payton to retire, whose to say they will get to live in that location. It may be booked up. Thing about real estate is get in and get in early because property value usually just goes up. They are setting themselves up for the future and assuring themselves of being happy post football. I heard him make the comment he could be from doorstep to doorstep in 1 1/2 hours from Dallas to practice facility...at times of traffic, bad weather, bridge delays I'm sure it took him damn near that long to travel from the Northshore. Just something to discus during the offseason. Once next season comes around, we start winning, all this will be trivial.

When Payton was on sports talk the other night he said he didn't plan to coach in his old age. He hinted the move to Dallas was a retirement thing. At his current pace I think he will burn out sooner than later.

Also, he has not bought a house in Dallas, he is leasing/renting.

This is an idée fixe for you now.

You need not to hold on so tight.

I think she thinks she's too big for the Northshore now, which she is. She really should have moved to one of the N.O. mansions and put her kids in one of the private schools before she decided to move.

They're leasing it supposedly.

So you really think Beth Payton is going to put her kids in a fricking public school in Dallas? bullshite.
