Trey Hendrickson Final 2023 Stats:
Posted on 1/9/24 at 6:08 pm
Posted on 1/9/24 at 6:08 pm
43 tackles
16 TFL
17.5 Sacks
25 QB Hits
3 Forced Fumbles
3 Passes Defended
But the organization needed to save face and kept Davenport and let a true sack artist walk. Since leaving the Saints, Hendrickson has started 46 games for the Bengals, totaling: 71 tackles, 39.5 sacks, 9 forced fumbles, and 76 QB hits.
I know it's been 3 years, but with Cam at the end of his career, it would have been nice to have a guy there who actuslly sacks the QB instead of gets close.

Trey Hendrickson Final 2023 Stats:
there are lots of reasons to be depressed about this team
the issues came direct from the FO, thinking they could coach this team with part time HC and part time DC
and then they kept extending player contracts to borrow future money, when in truth, we should have just cut them from the team, but their contract extentions wouldnt make that possible.

We had two chances to get it right and we (Payton) whiffed twice

You are a person that lives in the misery of the past.
God help you.
God help you.

And fricking Davenport who we chose to keep instead is the biggest bust in Saints History! Likely out of football forever!

In NOLA, Hendrickson only played in 45 games for the Saints in 4 years totaling 47 Solo tackles (71 is solo tackles in Cinci), 65 total (Cinci total was 109), 20.0 sacks, 3 forced fumbles, and 43 QB hits. Maybe the fact that he was hurt so much he played in fewer games in 4 years at NOLA than he did in 3 at Cinci and had significantly fewer tackles, sacks, forced fumbles, and QB hits.
Your stats do not paint a clear picture. Hendrickson was not the same player in NOLA, was hurt every season. Hindsight is a beautiful thing but you never have the benefit of it when you need it.

bullshite. He didn't play immediately and was only rotational because he was still raw and we had other options at the time, then he had injuries, then he tied for 2nd in the NFL in sacks his final year. Yes, 2nd in the NFL. Snap for snap he was always a very good player. Y'all keep talking about these games played in but don't talk about snaps taken.

He was hurt every season. He wasn't the same player, sorry if that hurts your feelings.

Did he or did he not tie for 2nd in the NFL for sacks in his final season with the Saints? If you don't know the answer ask your wife

quote:Yes he did and it was double what he had in his entire tenure with the saints until then. That was 27 games. He also wanted more money than every other year dictated. You baws always lament paying a guy who has only performed in his contract year. Unless we don’t I guess. It was a business decision.

Do I wish the Saints had kept Hendrickson, of course I do. Do I think it was the wrong decision at the time without the benefit of hindsight, not really.

He's a liability against the run. Dennis Allen values DEs that are above average run defenders. Marcus Davenport is very good against the run and despite the underwhelming sack totals, is an effective pass rusher as well.
Just for fun, I looked up some stats. Pro Football Reference started recording pressures in 2018. PFF records snap counts when a player rushed the passer. I also picked some other random edge defenders as comparison.
Pressure percentages (pressures/pass rush snaps)from 2018-2023:
TJ Watt 10%
M Garrett 8%
Hendrickson 8%
Davenport 6%
D Hunter 6%
K Mack 6%
Cam 5%
Remove the percentages and this looks like a list of some the league's best pass rushers with Davenport hidden in there. A closer look will tell you that all of them have also been consistently top run defenders. Except Hendrickson, he currently ranks 157 out of 198 qualifying edge players. That's straight dog water. He's basically Adam Dunn hitting 40 bombs and toting a .200 BA.

Only 3 playoff teams are outside of the top half of the league in rushing yards. Both #1 seeds are in the top 3.
2 of the 3 teams mentioned above are in the top 6 at stopping the run.
Passing yards the last 2 years have also been the lowest since 2009. Defenses are catching up like they always do and it always leads back to the running game.
