John DeShazier ?@JohnDeShazier

Byrd with a one-handed, over-the-shoulder grab for a pick in his work. That's serious ball skills

Larry Holder ?@LarryHolder

All square in the battle for kicker. Shayne Graham, Derek Dimke both 3-3 on field goal attempts today.

@MikeTriplett: #Saints Brees tries to hit Stills deep in team drills but Stills pulls up limping. Talking with trainers on sideline now.

Meachem blocks. He is a very good blocking WR, better than almost all of those guys. I think he has the advantage because of this.

Just my opinion, but I think Meachem's ability to block in relation to him making the roster is a bit overrated. Sure he's our best blocker at WR, but that's the only thing he does remotely well at this point. Is blocking for a WR enough to make the roster? I'd rather the guy who is better at a WR's primary responsibilities.

#Saints Brees likes his new toy! Threw deep to rookie WR Brandin Cooks, who went up and plucked it in front of tight coverage by S Zimmerman

When we are talking about the 5th or 6th WR, that's exactly what they need: A skill that sets them apart from all of the other WRs. That could be "Special Teams Ace" or Blocking or Returner. But they need something to set them apart.

Meachem has that.

A Special Team player, I can agree with. But a WR whose only useful skill set is blocking, I'd rather a guy with actual WR skills, or who can play ST.

That's the end of practice. I think this afternoon is a walk thru.
